Mopeds? Really?

Anyhoo... Got the Swisstop pads in today, finally. Funny thing- before I ordered them I called the vendor on the phone to ask, quite specifically, how many were in a pack, and was told, quite confidently, four.

Nope, two pads.

(grr)

Anyway, installed my two pads in the front, put the stock black rubbers back on the rear, and tossed the Grey Matters in the trash. Ironically, it's nearly 60° and dry today, so no snow and no chance to really give the pads a workout. Ah, well.... It'll be a while, as I'm leaving tomorrow for Florida, so the first real test will be when I get back in January.

Since the discussion of road disc brakes on here I have noticed more and more showing up in my random browsing.

Is there any road specific disc components/frames that are going for a reasonable price yet?

Reasonable price being a keyword. Those look nice though.

$1500 for a frame +$550 for a fork isn't really reasonable IMO

For a high performance bike it is. For a fitness, town or commuter bike, you can get a great complete bike for a lot less.

There has to be something in your life that you spend more for because it's high performance; shoes, computer, smartphone, tires, wine, whatever.

The expensive bike bashing on this, of all forums, is stupid. To spend more than $20 on performance mods for a faded 23 year old 2 seater that gets 32mpg hwy is dumb. Or it is brilliant, depending on where your passions lie.

Truth. I should have said reasonable to me.

Im not competitive in biking... I was interested to see if road disc has dropped into the lower price ranges yet.

Even though im not commuting often on my bike or really need disc brakes I enjoy them so much on my MTB that I would switch over in a heartbeat. With all of the welding I do its not a big deal to weld on a disc adapter, but I don't feel the forks on my 80's Miyata would like that, and Im sure there isn't much out there with disc provision and 1" threaded headset.

I wouldn't buy one because they are so expensive, but they always look great. I especially would not buy Campy anything. I also wouldn't ride a $5-7k frame with a zero set-back post. Let's not over-look the spacer-stacked stem.

I just started mountain biking with my brother and he got me hooked. I was renting but I just pulled the trigger on this hardtail.

Save up to 60% off new Mountain Bikes - MTB - Gravity 29Point4 29er Mountain Bikes

They cut the price to $699.95 so I jumped on it. Seemed like a great deal for the components.

Maybe you should try a new ROM, or just get a new phone.
