If FEMA had the bicycles, would it fund Hustler's manlet bib?

edit: Seriously, though... This may be the bikefаg thread, but it's still MT.net. Try to dig your saddle-packed ***** out from within your abdomen and stop taking everything personally. Besides, if you can honestly tell me that you'd be comfortable riding a $10,000 bike to work and leaving it parked outside every day, then I'll (verb.)
Your personal feelings regarding practical life tools really has nothing to do with anything in this thread. Zip. Just as a well maintained but scruffy, bone stock 10 year old Corolla is a great value for a commuter, a C6 Z06 make a great weekend toy.
Since page 1, you keep chiming in with the same opinion. "you guys and your stupid Z06's, what a waste! I would never commute in one. Can't you see that my '04 Corolla is the only type of car that makes any sense? I hate you!"
It is Hustlers thread. During the course of this thread, hist perspective on cycling and the equipment has changed dramatically. He now appreciates and revels in the achievements of top pro racers. He also has a new found passion for the high tech equipment that many of us can actually afford.
It's his thread, not yours.
I'm disappointed that someone as bright as you can't see that forest through the trees. If people enjoying high performance toys on mt.net bothers you, unsubf***gscribe already. You are trolling yourself and don't even see it.
Meanwhile, here is a pic of my $8000 full carbon bicycle that I sometimes commute on

I don't understand why Joe disrespects our desire to ride 100+ miles in five hours or ride up 12% grade (**** that). Somehow riding to work is valued more by him that riding up Mt. Diablo.

You're both falling into the same trap. "Cycling my way is the only true cycling that should be honored".
Hate is hate.

Several people who I respect have now chimed in to accuse me of being hateful, dissing those who appreciate high-end bikes, etc.
This is hurtful.
I honestly don't know what I did to give everyone this impression. I'd hoped that even though we all see cycling through different perspectives, there was room in this thread for those at all ends of the spectrum, from highly competitive athletes to those of us who just like to piddle around as an alternative to riding the train.
If someone can point to a specific post I made wherein I said anything remotely along the lines of (to quite Emilio) "you guys and your stupid Z06's, what a waste! I would never commute in one. Can't you see that my '04 Corolla is the only type of car that makes any sense? I hate you!" then I will happily apologize and be on my way. While I have certainly made several posts which espouse the joy of cycle commuting, and being to light the various cheap and shared bicycles which I utilize, I have posted no hate.
This all started when I wrote "Not being commuted upon every single day, carrying groceries, in sun, rain or snow? Don't care" as a joke immediately after Hustler changed the thread title to "ITT: Cycling glory thread; No CAAD, no care." A couple of individuals were unable to perceive the humor in this and posted scathing replied in which they accused me of being a [troll / hater / whetever], and it simply snowballed from there, with people assuming that I was deliberately being an ***.
Well you know what? This may be the bikefаg thread, but it's still MT. Certain individuals need to rinse the sand out of their vaginas and grow a thicker skin. I am not criticizing you or anyone else who enjoys cycling as a hobby. I don't think it's stupid, pointless, or a waste of anything. That illusion was created by others, and I'm getting tired of listening to people whine about it.
This is hurtful.

You are making the same mistake he is. There is no universal "value" to either. Of course utility and being a cost effective alternative to car is more important than pleasure/fitness riding to a very pragmatic individual.
You're both falling into the same trap. "Cycling my way is the only true cycling that should be honored".
Hate is hate.

All else being equal, epic rants are something I reserve for topics which I take lightly. Being massively misinterpreted by people whose personal and professional opinions I respect is something which I take very seriously.

Bicycling in general is pretty romantic. In other news, I was nearly ran over on the way home in my car by people not paying attention and honked at feverishly for not turning right on red, while oncoming traffic had a protected left. It's ******* scary out there.
