If FEMA had the bicycles, would it fund Hustler's manlet bib?

I'm aware.

It was mentally challenging for me because it was the longest ride I have done yet and the headwinds were making it a slow go.

Working up my mental and physical game and that Saturday ride really helped boost that up.

I was surprised at the effect of the cross winds. I don't have very Aero anything that would be a crosswind parachute, but i was still taken for a ride.

We still had a great time though.

My first century ride had a huge head wind. I didn't really know the route, and when we hit 100 miles, it became apparent that there was some extra distance, but I didn't know how much. My experienced companions had some pretty good fun acting like they, also, did not know how much farther we had to go. Mentally it was challenging to be so tired and have the end go beyond the 100. I think it ended up 102.

Is it feasible that my Flo 30s rode better than my Zipp 101s? Is it all mental? Help me to be content with them so I don't burn the cash, please.

When comparing: Same Tires? Same Pressure? If not, then the truth cannot be discerned.

What attribute are you referring to as being not as good? Couldn't be side winds. Maybe road vibration? Aero Drag? Latteral stiffness?

whats the weight difference as well?

Do you have an attribute that you are thinking of when you say "rode better"?

Same tires and pressures. Less sharp impact damping, breaks traction sooner on asphalt, and I'm not sure yet but it is plausible that they feel more drag-like over 30mph.

So, they are stiffer and potentially less aero.

Traction break under power, or under cornering? Traction should theoretically be the same with the same tire at the same pressure. unless the tire is skipping because your bike isn't compliant enough. Re-lacing your FLO wheels with stiff hubs and good spokes may make it feel like the things you are showing dislike with the Zipps...

Coming from a beginner rider, that's how I see it.

Less traction on asphalt when cornering.

How do you have less traction unless you took a fall?

Would you ask the driver of a car how he could have less traction unless he spun?

Tire patch dynamics on bicycle tires is completely different from car or motorcycle tires. As has been discussed previously, it is nearly impossible to slip a bicycle tire sideways and not fall. It is possible to slip a rear wheel on a wet uphill due to lack of forward traction safely.

Note that we are talking road bikes on the highway.

So, my answer to the feeling of less grip in this situation is that it may indeed be in his head.

One possible exception would be if the surface is broken and the tires are bouncing, which conceivably could be wheel stiffness related. However, I personally don't think that bicycle wheels (conventional) very much at all in vertical compliance.

Okay, so these Zipps feel quite a bit btter in power transfer and general rolling once you're moving, but they definitely feel less positive in corners than the poverty Flos did.

I almost low-sided yesterday in my apartment complex, the bicycle feels way different. It's probably in my head, maybe it's the tire squirming or something.

Could be that the front wheel is now 24 2-cross instead of 20 radial. Put the front FLO back on and see if it changes.

e: picture is very deceptive, apparently that is a radial wheel. It's in your head.

I was about to say.. I slip a bicycle tire sideways without falling all the time. But that's on a MTB on singletrack.
