To be honest, I find this very confusing. Why even have a GTR, or any other car of similar capabilities, if not for at least occasional track use? Seems like a complete waste just to DD it. 
That said, I'm seeing some very good things about the upcoming ATS-V. Might be worth the wait.

Nobody says it's a great DD, because from what I understand, it isn't.
If you're going to get something awesome JUST for DD, no track, then it seems to me that you're better off looking at M5 or C63 or CTSv or even Mustang or Camaro or Hellcat (good luck, you'll pay lots over sticker for one).
Then again, if you just really want a GT-R and can afford it, then just do it. If that's what you want, you won't be happy with anything else.

IK you can afford it, so maybe that is why no one has even mentioned cost.... but...
I am sure the GTR is a great car, and it has advanced pretty far in its life span, but I personally couldn't justify paying probably 115k+ out the door on a car that sold new for 70k in the beginning of its product life cycle. Yes, I know power went way up, tech went up, etc etc....

What about a nice 911 Targa? Sexy, fast, fun, tech happy, great daily...

I've said this before, and everyone hated, and I didn't care, so I'll say it again, and everyone will hate, and I care even less now. You know I despise hardparking so we'll just move past that comment altogether.
Would I enjoy getting onto a track and wringing the car out every once in a blue moon?
Absolutely.
Do I live for it like some of you guys? Nope. Like I would't even do it more than a handful of times. To me it's just going around and around in a circle (more or less) over and over again. I know I know, you want to beat others, you want fatser times, that's great. Does nothing for me. sowwy
For me the enjoyment comes from planning a build/acquiring the car/ acquiring the parts/building/modifying/tuning. Then just driving the car knowing every inch of it and having completed it. Having it "on tap"
The driving enjoyment comes from knowing i have the power, even if I use it very rarely. Knowing I have the handling, even if the only times I use it is a freeway onramp or the occassional mountain twisty road. The rush of torque and pull of power when merging onto a freeway or overtaking someone. Those are the small moments that make me enjoy the car. The way it sounds, the "wave" of torque and getting pushed back in your seat as the turbo finally comes alive. I love that stuff.
Does that make me not an enthusiast?

That makes perfect sense to me. I also thoroughly enjoy all of those aspects of the car building/driving experience. I just also happen to love the track and I was genuinely curious what about it turned you off since, barring cost, there are no downsides for me regardless of how much I may suck at it.

It occurs to me that maybe a guy could afford a GT-R as a daily driver, where he is protected against loss, but not afford to track it, where he may not be protected against loss.

Big, bigggggg, difference.
I only ask because I still remember the thread when your business was not doing too well, and you were struggling, and telling us about your pops being left with nothing set aside financially. I'm really happy to hear your business is doing good, but would hate to see you shoot yourself in the foot by re-adjusting your lifestyle too far.

Seriously 18psi hit the bulls-eye.
If you're pulling 500k-1m/year profit and your 10 year outlook is ok, then by all means buy a gtr and drive the crap out of it. (if you're doing better than that I'd get a gtr to track and something else to drive around
)
If you're making 100-200k profit or something then I'd save your peanuts. Get that alTIMa churbo'd on dubs
My daily is a 1989 b2600i... not saying you should go to my levels of thriftiness, but these financial decisions lead to my main concern being investment and not budget.
