Default Colorado power bottom looking for hot ****

Good morning everyone. This forum appears to be more my style than miata.net. It appears there are more drag racers here. That is what I am interested in.

First off, my name is Steven. I live in denver, co. I am thinking very heavily on converting over to mazda. I have never been a big fan however. But my next project I think needs to be RWD. I want to keep it with a 4 cylinder however. I am 100% not interested in a 240SX. I have driven two stock miatas before and actually enjoyed them. Both were on test drives. One with a 1.6 and one with a 1.8.

I have been racing mitsubishis for the past six years. I currently own a 1989 Mirage and 1997 Eagle Talon. The talon I do not own, but am more or less 50/50 partners with a friend and his daughter. The mirage made 510whp through the bone stock motor. That is right, from the throttle body to the oil pan, BONE STOCK. The talon's best time so far has been 10.8@138. Best dyno was 636whp. It however should run deep into the 9's early out this season. Should be throwing her on the dyno soon and shooting for over 900whp on boost alone. My mirage has actually been sold, just trying to find time and a way to deliver it to the new owner.

So currently I have no toys of my own. The next logical step I can see myself in is a Miata. I know I have lost most of my output potential if I go with a mitata. But, I think it is time I try to keep it on the civil side. I am thinking 400-500whp. I build my own cars, tune my own cars, and do as much fabrication as I can handle. The thing is I need to really find someone local who has turbocharged their miata and see if I can get a ride along.

If anyone knows of anyone in the colorado front range area let me know. I would like to see if it is worth my time. I know flyin miata is in colorado, and they have already offered a ride, but they are 250 miles away. Let me know guys, I am pretty serious here but curious to see one of these little cars rocket down the road.

You may be a admin and all, but that was uncalled for. I never said it wasn't worth it, that is an entire day I wouldhave to devote to a test drive/ride. Send me the money for what it is going to take to drive 500 miles and I will go in a heart beat. I have seen a few guys in the area and I have seen a few that have cities in their profiles close to me. I AM NOT A NOOBIE. I am trying to break into your market. Just would like to even look at one if possible. I have the funds to back my imagination. From what I have seen if you are serious making power is not out of the question. I can apply everything I know directly into these mazdas. Tuning program is probably going to be the same. I have seen all the problems you guys are having and am willing to help and use my knowledge here. It isn't any different in the mitsubishi world.

I am not some kid trying to sound cool and have impossible dreams. I think something in the 60-65lb/min range is ont out of the question if you take your time and prepare everything properly. Just like any car. I have heard all the stories how tight nit most miata guys are. I know going to drag racing route is out of the norm here, but that is what I do and that is what I love. I know that there are few and far between miatas making this kind of power. But I have already seen that fueling and tuning is the main issues here. I have all the fuel I need sitting in the basement barring I can get a fuel rail to work sufficiently. Tuning I have down.

If hondas, mitsubishis, and nissans can make retarded and reliable power then why can't a mazda. Motors all function the same right? With enough fuel the sky is the limit. I enjoy building oddball cars. Things that are different or not right. So a drag miata is not too out of the question. These cars have always raised my brow a little now I want to evaluate if they are right for me. Lightweight, RWD and a 4 cylinder, why not?

"fueling and tuning is the main issue..." um... that's any car, everytime you do anything to it, unless you think you're going to un 9's on a stock motor, which wouldn't suprise me because you seem like a ******* moran, ricer, ------. GTFO

If you know so much, why are you ******* here? Thanks for coming on here, and telling us that we're all wrong.

oh, and btw:

Also past 300 whp we have major driveline problems and would require alot of stiffening to hook the power correctly. Just food for thought, fuel and hp on the motor is the easy part getting the car to last ie gears suspension etc is not. Look at any SCC/GRM chalenge car and you will see abit about our driveline issues. Only the stupid and the greedy blow miata motors. I was greedy. they are frigin stout, our frames and chassis on the other hand being so light weight are not.

RWHP on a miata has more to do with the fact that you didn't shear a tranny or pinion gear or bend the PPF than anything else when you talk those numbers. I am certianly convinced 600+ hp is acheivable easily on a engine dyno, but you want it to power the car not the dyno :gay:

i'd certainly drive to FM to get a ride... i mean it's not like if i wanted a ride i would just beep them and they would be at my every service...

sometimes things that are worth seeing are worth driving/flying to... kinda like vacations haha.

I dont think it was out of line, they are going to have the best cars for you to sample. If you are really serious and it's worth your time to do so, then I dont see why you cant makea day of it.
