Default 4th gear drift

Initiating at about 85-90, this pic was probably at about 80mph
The pic is from about an 8th mile away.

What technique are you "initiating" with?

well, in fear of breaking trans I no longer clutch kick(just in emergencies) so I pretty much use a feint on or off throttle depending on timing.
for this it was on throttle feint.
Well actually that was going to the right, so I mani 3rd gear, hit rev limit and upshifted for the sweeper into 4th. So kind of a upshift clutch kick, sick into
4th LOL

that's cool
He said - do everything you can to make the car spin - the opposite of what you'd if you were trying to run fast lap on a road course

does this help?
well, in fear of breaking my transmission, I no longer powershift into the same gear I'm already in. I only use that technique when my car is on fire. So I pretty much jerk the wheel from side-to-side until the car breaks loose--either floored or coasting, depending on timing.

for this mad str33t hax0r I used the steering wheel side-to-side jerking method.

Well, actually that was for a right hand turn, so I shifted some danger into teh manifold, hit the rev limiter, and shifted into 4th for the sweeper.

So a powershift. My fourth gear vomited somehow.

im sure at those speeds all it takes is a little flick while applying the brakes lightly and then into power-over.

I'm not hating on it. I like seeing the pictures. I just have no idea how to do it or what the technical terms are. After watching rusman or whoever the hell it was smash their car sideways into the wall i pretty much said I would never try that.

Ahh I guess I was being a bitch.

Well, I can describe what the terms mean if you would like.

Feint is like the flik, flick i sideways either on or off the throttle. That will depend on exactly what you are trying to accomplish with the inititiation.

Inititation is starting your drift: getting it sideways.

Clutch kick: keeping car revved pushing in clutch and letting it out quickly with low power and more of a feathering with hi power.

SO I take off, floor the ******* car in every gear until fourth, do a little flick to transfer weight while on the throttle and bammm. I am sideways and hauling serious ***. I continue full throttle unless I need to correct and continue the counter steering and just try and keep a good line, angle and keep hauling ***.

Manji is like s turn drifitng from side to side. That was being done in the top of third gear and then up shift into 4th doing the course in a clockwise direction.

Anyway, it was fun, fast, and smoky.

Oh, I got the drifter of the day award too

I hope that helped. I dont know where there is video. If it pops up I will let you folks know ..

The next time there is one of these events some of you should come out. Its free if you rock federal tires.

Plus there are ride alongs, so you can jump in my car and go for awhirl..

While I've stated more than once that I think Drifting is gayer than Rotary engines... I have to say two things..

First off, doing that at 80mph takes some HUGE ******* *****. Like, Massive, Massive, Massive *****.. You have a trailer that you drag behind your car with your ***** in it. Even on a flat open lot...

Second, that takes some severe control and I'm pretty impressed. Still think drifting is gay and pointless, but thats still some actual control required for that kind of psycho ****.

Carry on, Sir.
