Default Installed Bigger Injectors Now Car Runs Like Poo

In preparation to installing my Rev built MS2, I decided to put in the bigger injectors that I bought so as not to change too many things at the same time. I went from stock to 725cc Injector Dynamics. Currently have a PowerCard for fuel and timing. Car starts, but coughs and sputters and won't rev or idle. AFR is reading 9-10 (but jumping around a lot) at 1500-2000 RPM.

My question is this: Is the PowerCard just dumping way to much fuel with the new injectors? Or should the car run ok and I've messed something up with the install?

If this isn't enough info let me know what else I can provide.

Don't want to tear it all apart again to look for an issue if I don't have to.

I fully admit I know nothing of the ways of the tuner thus my question here.

Thank ya.

Your powercard cannot handle the large injectors. You have to wait until you recieve the MS.

If I just threw in larger injectors, without an ECU to compensate for the extra fueling capacity per pulse width, I'd expect my car to run like *** too.

The stock ECU cannot idle 725cc injectors. Take them out and put back in the stock ones until you have the MS.

Okay, that's what I was thinking, but it's not beyond me to not get everything back together correctly. .

I'm putting in the MS this weekend, I hope.

Thanks for the quick response.

Injectors are bad, sell them to me at a reduced cost.

Why is this in the Race Prep section?

Perhaps I can find installation instructions and reverse them. Jeff had a PowerCard before his Adaptronic didn't he? I'll ask him what to look out for.

Have you got your MS in? When we gonna do a tune day?

I'm doing the mods in "Preparation" to make my car faster at the track?

With that logic almost any thread related to miatas on this forum could be in this section. I think this belongs in either "engine performance" or "ECU and tuning."

I'm waiting on a cam gear which is in transit from China or something. Then, I go to the dyno the next weekend with you and at least one other dude.

Dimitris sends good starter MSQs so we will just put it on the dyno and tune everything on one shot so we don't have to go to jail for racecaring on the street. This will be the first MP62 I've tuned with good rods and pistons...300whp?

Thanks for moving. "Race Prep" is the only forum I look at generally and while there I impulsively posted up.

If you can, give me a few days notice so I can go get the trailer. Although, I may have to put the other injectors in to get the car on the trailer.

300 whp is a little much for me. I like my transmission. I'm hoping for 245-250ish whp.

When you plug-in the computer the car will start and be somewhat drivable.

Honestly if the car is not your DD then I would leave the new injectors in. I would just shoot Revereant an email about the injector change and I bet he will get you a msq that will get the car started.

Only thing TDR did right was a pnp harness.

Thank you that was most helpful. And only two weeks after the initial post.

Car now has MS2 in and is running well. First time the car has had a decent idle since I bought it.

COPs going in tonight. Dyno Tune on the 15th!
