You weren't kidding about how long it was. Interesting info, all of it makes sense though.

One year I bought three cars from dealerships, two used and one new. I learned a lot, especially since I bought the two used cars from the same guy at the same dealer. Second used car I bought, my current car, they tried all sorts of ****. On the finance form they were going to charge me $700 for some "secure mark" or something that was basically bar codes they put on all the body panels, six stickers. $700 for six stickers. With the dealer fee of $300 we're talking about an extra $1000 added to my loan. Then they start in with their warranties. I agreed to a 4yr/48k bumper to bumper with "no deductible" for $1200. Turns out there is a $100 deductible if they do not do the work in house, which they NEVER will because I bought a Toyota from a Dodge dealership and their "computers won't talk to it" (yeah cause an OBDII scan tool gives a **** who makes the car). And the warranty company sucks ***, they try to make everything "wear and tear". Sorry, fuel injectors don't fail from "wear and tear" at 55k miles.

Anyway, long story short, they made $2200 off the dealer handling fee, warranty and six ******* stickers. I was so desperate to get rid of my trade (a Durango) that I was ready to eat **** and ask for seconds and they ******* knew it. After all this BS, my upside down trade, taxes, etc. I ended up with a $320 payment and a $16,500 loan on a $8000 car. Stupid stupid stupid. And look how many people do the same thing each year.

Yup, car salespeople kill me. When I was buying the new TSX, the salesman was going on and on about reliability, and then when I picked it up the manager was pressuring me to buy the extended warranty b/c a bunch of the staff own honda/acuras and have been having problems. Same guy who swore that he could not sell below invoice and then agreed to when I was headed for the door. Amazing...

If you're buying a new car, it's interesting to walk in with a stack of regional newspapers with ads for the car you want.

- "26 grand! This ad from Paragon says 21,499."

They tell you the ad is bullshit, but suddenly start dancing when they realize you might just go to Paragon to check it out.

I suppose they deserve it, but it pisses me off when I have to **** on somebody just to make them play straight.

2006 MS6: Basically, they didn't sell very well at all. There are three dealerships in town. I found the car I wanted and went in. First day, including a couple major rebates, incentives, OTD price $26.5k, no lower no-how. Came back 3 days later and said I'll give $25k OTD. He came back with $26k. I said I didn't like white very much (I love white), so maybe the other dealers in town will have a black one. 20minutes later I drove it away for $25.5k OTD.

The only thing I didn't like was their bullshit "Dealer Installed R25 Protectant Program". Basically for $600 they'd wash and wax the car once a year for life with some hi-tech ****. When I said no, the lady asked me to sign a piece of paper saying I didn't want it. When she handed it to me, I turned it over to read the backside and she grabbed it out of my hand and said "No, just sign this side." I turned it back over and said, "If you grab something out of my hand again, you can explain to Peter(salesguy) why I went to Hall Mazda and bought a car from them."

To borrow part of a line from Joe Pesci... "THEY'LL **** YOU AT THE DEALERSHIP!" The only thing you can do is be educated and informed, ask questions, get everything in writing, shop around, and no matter what, understand that nobody at a car dealership is your friend.
