Default Why I bought my miata and why I'm a little dissapointed..

Just want to vent a bit of my frustration. Before buying the Miata I gave my 5spd Lexus SC300 to my Little brother for FREE, I had Zeal Function Coilovers, complete Sony Mobile ES HU, AMP, SUB and speakers, JIC strut tower bar, Rays Eng. G-Games 99b 19x8.5 rims with a +25et and rolled fenders, Denso Irridium sparks, Nology Hot Wires, gold cam covers, Full 97+ Body Upgrade, custom JDM jasma dual exhuast with g35 tips that I built and lots of other little stuff that took me years of working part time while going to school and endless hours of work to finish. I gave it to him telling him not to mess with the car anymore cause it already looks good and the reason I got the Miata was so he and I could work on it together... Well now he's spending time doing little things to the sc and posted pics of it on a former forum I used to be in (CLub Lexus) with another set of rims I had been storing in the backyard without asking to use the rims. Heh he didn't even give any credit or thanks to me for giving him the car or any of the work I've done...
He already curbed the Rays rims pretty good when trying to drive the thing by himself so I told him to put some other 17's on there for now and after a couple months he put the rays on again... Heh, whatever.

Reason I'm disapointed is he just wants to work on the SC and has little to no interest in helping me fix up the Miata which was originally supposed to be OUR project yet I've spent time helping him replace the clutch and welding his exhaust pipe that cracked at the collector. I'm so tempted to tell him if he really wants to work on the sc he can start by removing the Zeal coilovers along with the rims and all the other stuff I did so I can sell them and use the funds for the miata and that way he can start from scratch and buy / install all his own parts.

So much for brotherly love and graditude hu? Ahahaha.

Couple Crappy cell phone pics...

Now I'm driving in a beat lil 92 miata with 175k miles and trying to build it to something decent...
+ side is I think I'm finally done with the body work and almost ready for paint.. Just need to do the front and rear bumpers and will hopefully spray it next weekend or after I get the turbo kit in...

Why did you give him the car for free again?....

I want to buy my brother a car sometime soon too because I am better off than he is currently and his chevy s10 suv is raping him on gas. You better believe I won't spend more than $1500 and it will be a Honda EF body though.

SC's still fetch a good price, I would have at least made him pay me something for it.

Ahaha, I know Johndoe.. I should but then the little guy will be all heart broken..

Neo, I gave him the car because as I was moving out of the house the clutch master cylinder was going out and I needed a car so I took my other one which was a 4 door c280 and was actually more practical for my wife and baby plus only one parking spot at the apartment.. I always intended on giving him a car cause I rather he focus on school and not have to worry about getting some crappy job to earn cash like I did.. Heh, I guess I wanted to give him the opportunity to start off with something nice and setup instead of wasting time and money, but I guess I was wrong...

Just wanted the Miata so we could spend time together and I can show him how to do body work and mechanical / electrical stuff as I am 10 years older than him and it seems like we never really bonded over anything. Well I guess since he took a year of auto repair at High school he already knows everything just like every other young punk ahaha J/k. Any way I'm just a bit t'd..

Thanks for the replies guys just needed to vent a lil of my frustration..

Bryan, sorry to say this but: nothing in life is free and your younger brother will not appreciate your gift.

I'm with neo on this one; I would've made him pay me something even it was symbolic. I don't see your old SC lasting for long.

when I was young my brother wouldnt let me BORROW any of his cars let alone have one......but he always helped me find jobs, and told me when there was a good deal on something: making me work for my own **** and apreciate it that much more.

just a thought

Your kidding right? If your gonna brag about what you've done and how you gave it to him for free......**** it....you gave it to him. If you give your younger brother a car and say, "hey....lets work on my miata"....what do you think he's gonna want to work on. And common sense would say take off the expensive **** and sell it before he ***** it up. If he's young, he needs to learn and move along at a gradual pace.....not be handed a already done up ride.

Anyways.....who the **** wants what someone else made? Brotherly love would be to pass on the car, ready to mod. Hell, sell it to him on the cheap for $500 or $1000 so it's somewhat of an investment and he'll appreciate it more. But if your gonna give it to him whether it be hooked up or stripped......don't ******* whine about it. Otherwise you kinda undo the good deed.

I bought my younger brother an ice cream and that little ****** licked it until it was all gone instead of helping me mow the lawn. Can you believe that ****?

Well first off what do you expect by giving such an amazing car as the SC to your younger brother.

If you wanted to help him out, I would have giving the miata. I can understand where you are coming from on wanting to help your little brother out, but you don't give him a 7k+ car you give him something like an EF civic or a 90-93 base/A pkg miata.

Sorry but your brother is not going to respect the car the way you do cause he doesn't understand the value of the car or the amount of work that went into it. He did not have to bust his *** or save up to buy the parts for the car, or spend a weekend in the garage instead of going out to a party with friends cause you wanted to drop the new clutch in your car. He doesn't understand what it is like to bust his *** during the day, skip going out with friends during the week just so he could get that new part 2 weeks earlier. For that reason he does respect what you doing to the car. He also doesn't know what the car was like before so to him the car could still be "better".

The only way your going to save your SC is to get it back from your brother and give him the miata. Then work on HIS miata as a family things. Asking him to bond with you working on your car is hard for him to do cause you asking him to put his life on hold for a few hours instead of going out and doing something for himself. Now if it was his car and you offered to help work on it and maybe match cost of part with him, you would be able to bond with him and as so give him a good understand of cost of everything.

That is my 2cent.

thanks for the posts guys... ahaha, by no means am I whining, just a bit irritated but i'm over it. I should have done what you guys suggested and just got him the miata aand helped him with the work but the kids got no money and like I said I rather have him study than endure the hardships that I faced. heh, at the same time I want him to understand how hard it was for me, which is impossible without going through it himself so I guess I lose either way.
the guy loves the car so I don't mind him having it but what got me ticked was he posted pics of it and it seemed like he took credit for all the work done.
Its funny how some of u attack me and others understand. I guess it tells me who the younger brothers are who are either spoiled or jelous and thoose who can empathize which are probably the older wiser bro's..
In the end I do blame myself but have moved on, I won't be removing any of the susp, or harder to unbolt moods for the sake of his disappointment but may tell him I need to sell some easy to get at parts like the rims and strut bars to fund miata parts.
I've decided to f it and do the miata on my own with my former sc as my rival. I should be receiving the greddy turbo kit today and finished venting the hood over the exhaust mani late last night, I may add another one in the lower center of the hood but uncertain cause I don't want to remove any structural support. i'll post pics of it tonight. I hope to complete the car and paint by the end of next month..
thanks again for all the replies and comments guys..

Appearantly not all keyboards come with a shift key, so I should proceed to invent a standalone shift key that people can attach to their existing shift keyless keyboards, so that Bryan may Capitalize a word eveynow and then in his long posts.

Second, pics or it didn't happen, come on, when will we all learn?
I wanna see pics of the Miata, even shitty cameraphone pics will do.

You can be pissed at people for breaking promises and contracts. You can NOT be pissed at people just because they do not react as you wished they would.
