Default WTF am I doing here?

Just in case anyone is wondering what a SCed guy is doing on MiataTURBO forum, I've been thinking about buying a beater Miata and turboing it - DIY this time.

Who knows, between my 20 month old twins, my new baby boy (due in Feb), and a 12 hour/day 6 days a week job, I may get a spare moment or two. lol

Thanks for all the good info guys.

I for one am glad to have ya. It's great to see different methods of accomplishing the same goal.

If I had a wife & kids, I'd probably invent new projects to get me away from em.

Similar situation w/1-1/2 year old, baby on the way, self employed, basement to renovate into office, old office to renovate into nursery, new garage to build and project Miata. IMO all you need is a space for the project car so you can use your time to work on it rather than moving it around all the time and to be prepared for it to go untouched for months at a time. I think what it does help with is forcing you take your time. Gives more time for thinking about what your plan is. And a greater opportunity to wait for deals to come about on parts. -rob

You are here so you can figure out how to move your supercharger to a coldside and then add on the turbo. Now that would be some DIY geniousness.

You shoulda seen me BRP Forums before I was banned. I called it like I saw it and I got banned from BRP and given a time out at M.Net. Basically, people were giving money over to BRP and made to wait months and months for **** that BRP had to pay cash for. Why cash? Well, by the time Brant had to sell BRP to Barker products, he had no credit and no one wanted to sell him **** unless it was cash up front.

Of course no one wanted to hear the truth.

By the time Barker bought BRP, there was a list of 22 people that were owed parts, kits and refunds. As a matter of fact, there was a guy in Texas who actually filed a criminal complaint with the Attorney General in Texas and SC before he actually got his kit.

Then there are the vendors that are still owed money by BRP/SOT/Barker.

This is pretty much the reason why I'm so much quieter online than I used to be. I spoke the truth and people called me a shill and questioned MY integrity - **** that. For the most part, the people that were owed money didn't say ****. I say those guys are on their own.

As far as I know, SOT is STILL not shipping SC kits and people are STILL handing them deposit money. Sheesh.

AS for what turbo I want, I still don't know enough about turbos and their characteristcis. Though I am learning more every day.

Wow yeah this is the chuck i like i seen abit of it on m.net an opinion can do alot of good and bad here and so long as you dont bad mouth phillip he is pretty cool with a free and open discusion of the products and people in question, and why shouldnt he be? he has nothing to gain or lose. i feel for you guys that bought SOT i almost bought stuff from them as well but had second thoughts glad i didn't now. Some times no matter how good or bad people look on paper. When they get up to doing the real business they fail. chuck i recomend a evo3 16g like nester ran check out his posts i dunno if he has sold his car yet. He might be convinced to make another manifold set for you as he runs a turbo company that deals with scions anyway. couldnt hurt to ask, he is a supercool guy, and he delivers from what i have seen of him so far.

there were a lot of people who got banned and ripped on for calling out BRP....people just love to back vendors, even when there are getting ripped off.

read this post: http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=210744

It's old news but sooo funny....read the shop owners response and how many people gave him props for being honest...that's one of many issues with that shop around here....

Here's a federal appeal he lost....very very interesting reading....just read the first two pages about the issue. hahah
http://pacer.ca4.uscourts.gov/opinion.pdf/022230.U.pdf

Some people still love this guy....you can google at least 10-20 more lawsuits and complaints about this guy.

you'll like it here. I've learned so much here, and everyone is willing to teach. This is probably the best "grass roots" diy site on earth.
