I was at a friends about to watch UFC on Sat. He does very well (Viper guy) and his other friends do even better, they come over to hang out at these events. Lots of regular cars show up but today I heard an unusual sound as I was waiting for things to start. I thought it was a really loud but odd sounding WRX (as in the past some loud WRX's have shown up) I look out side and see it. Wow an Ford RS200 Evo. I couldn't hold back so I ran over to it a little bit giddy. I remember reading about it and maybe even having a poster as a kids of it. (and remembering that it killed Group B rally)
It's only got 5000 miles on it and looks great. The new owner put a smaller turbo on it since he said it was way to laggy for the street but now it only makes 13psi. It truly was loud and obnoxious. Being a passenger was worse, its really loud inside and has so much NVH its ridiculous. Gun headphones are needed for anything more than 15min of driving. Still it is a Group B rally car and what do you expect. It was fast but it had no bottom end at all and it took forever to get some heat into it after it had sat a while before my pilot drive. I can't say any more than that as I didn't get to drive it myself. The Viper owner did and he said it was like a 125cc motorcross bike, nothing down low and then bam the power comes on. He also said it was hard to not stall it at stand still.
Not sure if I'll see it again but I hope so.
* Sorry about the weird rear photo I had to blur the plate. Please also note how to tell it is a genuine Ford product of the 80's: We had to put cardboard down to protect the driveway from an oil leak.

Viper was an after-hours pet project. Chrysler didn't give them the budget to do a DOHC motor, they aren't going to give them budget to design a DIFFERENT 8 liter V10 from the ground up. All the parts are different but the core design is still out of a truck.

Wow, I want.. This is why I hate automakers and our countries stupid auto laws. We NEVER got any of the cool ----. Look at the Cosworths, Skyline for example. Instead we get the shitty Fiesta and that retarded looking minivan. Makes me sad.

What gen Viper are we discussing? Also, Seattle seems to get away with more of those oddballs. I know there was a nice Cossie Escort running around up there at some point.
