Moving back to San Diego.
Yup, pretty excited... it's "home" for both my wife and I.
I've had my orders to the Nimitz as a shooter for a month or so now, but just in the past few days have decided on a timeline.
I'll be leaving here on December 1st in the afternoon and driving toward Meridian, MS... gonna drive til I get tired. Dec 2nd, lunch in Meridian, MS and dinner in Natchitoches, LA, then another couple hours on the road. I'd love to stop in at BEGi the morning of the 3rd, but I have to be in Midland that night... so gotta make a decision which way I drive when I leave Louisiana... the 20 or the 10. 3 days in Midland killing everything that moves at a buddy's ranch. Then a day to Phoenix, then a day to San Diego.
Gotta sell the car and the truck before I leave. Still not a single hint of interest in the car. If I do have to ship it, it'll get parted the instant it rolls off the truck.... gotta get started on my NB build immediately. I may end up taking the truck to Carmax and bending over.
I'll be in Lakehurst, NJ from 13Oct to 30Oct at Shooter School, so hopefully I can get a few guys in the area together for beers one day... I'll probably have a pos Sebring or Caliber rental unfortunately.
Ah well, now y'all know.

You must be ecstatic Sam, I know I'd love to move "home" (Jacksonville) but I don't see that happening without joining the Navy...
I took my time driving out here from GA too, stayed a week in Jax, a night in Biloxi, a few in Houston, etc. It's way better than my drive from Tuscon to Augusta, where the wife and I did it in about 40 hours, not stopping and eating MREs on the way...

Also called "Flight Deck Officer". I'm the guy on the carrier deck who launches planes. It's a pretty standard career track for an aviator during a "dissasociated Sea Tour"... my tour where I deploy with the ship but don't get to fly. Instead I get to do this:
Looking for south of the 8... probably end up in Eastlake, but holding out for anything in Coronado with a yard... would take Hillcrest/MissionHills/NorthPark for the right neighborhood.
CircleHunt for quail in oil-land just south of Midland the first day, then helping my buddy with some management of his property about 2hrs west of there the next 2 days. He says I need to get my limit in old does. 25-06 is my weapon of choice.
I can't wait... just around the corner from his place is a restaurant called the Snooty Fox... best biscuits&gravy I've ever had outside of the south. Omelets are legendary.
