Default Charleston SC area people

I know we got some SC peeps here, but anyone from the Charleston area or at least knows it real well? I need some insight on hot local spots, like to see some bands or the like, not looking for anything crazy, just a cool place to chill out (no dance clubs, just trust they are not for me)
here is the catch, my GF is 19, so that will more than likely limit me on where i can go...any help is appreciated
thanks all
Dan

I'm an old married guy so I don't hang out at clubs any longer but one of my friends plays guitar in a band. They will be at shooters in Summerville on Saturday night. If you go tell him (you will recognize him by the really long hair - Geoff Conine is his name) Bob sent you.

Your GF's age may be a limiting factor but most of the time they will either give her a bracelet to wear or mark her hands showing she's "under age" and she'll still be able to go in. Check the link. There's a decent listing/descirption of places available. If there's more info you need about those places, just ask and I'll see if I can help you out. Also, Charleston has a new Smoking Law. It's not allowed in the establishments. LOL!! Well, except for a couple of places that sell cigars (3 places). There's a nice "martini/cigar bar" called Club Habana (my fave) if you're into it. It's located above The Tinder Box at the Market. If you want the cheapest drinks downtown, Big John's Tavern. Just warn your GF that they used to have the ceiling of their bar COVERED by bras that were... "donotated". Tommy Condon's Irish bar with Irish Folk Music. Many of the bars and restaurants have local talent playing music. There are also places in Mount Pleasant that offer the same thing. Where will you be hanging out and maybe I can narrow down some places for you? I'd hate for you to pick a place that ends up getting raided by local LEO. LOL!! I'll post more if I think of any other places. It's been a while since I've gone out. I've got a 4 month old so I don't and haven't gone out much.

I loved "The City Bar" downtown, but they don't allow under age folks. The only reason I got in under age is because I had 12 alcoholic germans with me and the bouncer followed me around all night to make sure I wasn't drinking.

The buffalo wild wings in mount pleasant used to have live bands multiple days a week, that was also popular with the crew.

For strippers, their is a byob place called "The Southern Bell" that's bad ***. Great chicks and music, liqour store next door in case you run out.

Most of the other places I went while I was there I can't remember names/locations as I was tanked as **** or a passenger. Walk around downtown and listen for the kind of music you like. A lot of the better places are on the upper floors of innocent looking buildings with no signs. You can identify them by the music and the bouncer standing by the door to the stairs.

Folly beach is the best place to hang out on the weekends, hopefully they still let you drink provided it's not in glass bottles.

Kickin' Chicken on the way to IOP (there's a couple more places to check out within that 3 block radius); Mellow Mushroom for decent pizza and ALOT of different beers (King Street downtown); Gene's Hoffbrau in West of the Ashley (Savannah Highway) for moar "ALOT of different beers". The Sand Dollar in IOP is different bar to go to. The patrons are "eclectic" (beach bums to bikers to business folk). The Windjammer (bikkini contests) and Coconut Joe's (great for a couple especially in the evening with live music on the deck) right on the beach at IOP would be fun.

P.S. If you're in town by then, autox in N. Charleston on the 15th!! It's a fun
course and one of the larger ones for our region. www.scr-scca.com How long will you be in town??

I will be staying out at Edistow Island with my cousin for this trip. All my extended family is in charleston though so I know my way around. I spend 1 week every summer at the IOP in a house with my dads side of the family. Been doing that since I was born.
