Default Newbs gone wild!!!

Is it just me or is this national miataturbo.net noob day? I don't think I've ever seen the meet and greet section take this many posts, in 1 day, ever.

I dunno, but I'm starting to get pop-ups out the *** for the first time ever here n MT.net, anyone else? I'm thinking there's gotta be some increased advertisement somewhere that's drawing all the noobs in recently, may also be leading to more ads ON the site....??? I'm prolly wrong, just a thought.

Newbs are a good thing...the wheat will separate from the chaff and the sight will grow better.

I don't know of anything advert-wise that has changed...but I have noticed increased traffic. Most of it is drive-by sellers slangin' their wares...which seems more poor economy/unemployment over/Christmas coming to me. Everyone everywhere is selling...and cheap, real buyers playground.

I have never endorsed or used popups. Check your end for spyware.

Sorry if it seemed like I was implying it was intentional, it happened like 6 times the day I posted that and only here, hasn't happened since, no idea what was going on.

I wasn't brought here by an ad, and I haven't seen any pop-ups since joining a couple weeks ago.

I registered because this seems to be the best source of Miata/Megasquirt info. May stick around for more than that, I may not. The culture here seems to be more to my liking than m.net or CR, so perhaps I'll become a regular.

When Debbie did Dallas, she took way more than the meet and greet ever could.

Well...since this thread is here I'm going to rant:

As I branch out into new hobbies I've gotten onto a few other forums as I find good ones. I'm a noob there, but pay to support most of them. Even at that I find the "clicks" on every forum that treat newbs just as bad as we do here...despite putting effort into my posts.

I don't post as freely as I do here...and work to stay on topic...but I still get it. It's just a group mentality thing where they automatically assume anyone from the outside is stupid, not worth the time, or both. I don't have the time to devote to "getting in" on every forum like I do here...and absolutely HATE that I seem to find a member or two on every forum that feels it's their duty to follow newbs around and discount or straight disagree with everything they post, just because it's the current groupthink.

I'm not dissing anyone here in particular, and I know guys like 18psi are only targeting the real idiots. I'm just saying that there are guys out there that are just like us, who will stumble their way in. We're not going to be able to recognize all of them in their first 10posts...so give them a chance before we tell them to GTFO.

Honestly i am surprised at the level of stupidity i have to deal with on other forums. I make a post asking a technical question on something i dont know and they all point me to a dealership or having someone else do the work. And i always respond that if they just link me or tell me the dimensions or specs on something i can figure it out myself i just came here for ******* clarification. This does not nor did it ever happen here. Our stickys are way to comprehensive and the knowledge base is way to braod. I present that while most forums have 90% fluff mt.net has more like 50% fluff the rest is earnest discussion on real topics.

We get into the actual physics and engineering of our cars and turbo systems, and are not afraid to breack out a few mathamatical equations along the way to validate our theories. So the gramar ***** and newb hazzers we have created are a small price to pay.

This place is way different than any other I've been on...and worth keeping that way.

If you typed "the only forum that would say, "word to your mother" at your so called intellgence?". I'm 99% sure www.miataturbo.net would be the only find on the search engine.
