Default Miata vs. Deer

So on his way to work today my dad killed a deer with his NB. He's fine (thankfully!!) and the only damage you can see on the car from 10ft away is the passenger side headlight is pushed and the fender/bumper a bent a little bit. The corner of the hood on that side is also bent slightly, but it's hard to tell until you get close. I'd post a pic but it's honestly not worth it.

Anyways, he saw the deer, slammed the brakes, would've just barely missed it...but...the deer stumbled through the ditch and flew out into the road, hit the passenger sideby the headlight, slid across the hood and into the windshield at 65mph. The windshield didn't even crack! Here's the kicker: according to the two guys who were behind my dad when he hit the deer, it flew about 20-25 feet straight up into the air, off the windshield! They actually pulled over and walked up laughing because the deer flew so high!

How fast was he going before he hit the brakes?
