Miataturbo live chat via IRC!
IRC is a great way to chat. It's an old protocol, but still very popular. It'd be cool if we got a channel going for the forum. I tried starting a channel once before, but the thread got buried pretty quickly, so not many people knew about it. Maybe a mod can sticky it this time or something?
For those in the know, here's the info:
Server: irc.synirc.net
Channel: #miataturbo
FAQ:
What is IRC?
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a form of real-time Internet text messaging (chat) or synchronous conferencing. It is mainly designed for group communication in discussion forums, called channels, but also allows one-to-one communication via private message, as well as chat and data transfers via Direct Client-to-Client.
How do I join?
You need to download an IRC client. There are many clients for nearly every operating system. The most popular client for windows is mIRC. A favorite for OS X is Colloquy. As for Linux, it is for people who enjoy pain, so it would be rude of me to make your life any easier by recommending a client. Most IRC clients are not resource intensive, so you can minimize them to the tray and let them run in the background so you don't have to log in every time.
Great, I have my client downloaded and installed, now what?
Go into the options of your particular client and choose a nickname, then enter in the server information. The server we are using is irc.synirc.net. mIRC in particular has a built in list of servers, you can simply choose "SynIRC" from the list and you will connect. Once you have connected, you need to join the channel named #miataturbo. Yes, the # is important. You can do this by going through the hand holding that your particular program does, or you can just type in /join #miataturbo in the server window.

I'm actually surprised Hustler isn't joining, he spends enough time on here calling people ------s, he could do it ten times as much on IRC

Right now it's just dxo and I. There's another channel I'm in on the same server called #ai, based off a subforum of SomethingAwful. it's general car chat with a few miata owners, you guys are welcome to join there too.
