Good luck with the new purchase... I'm looking to upgrade DD's myself. Go from a B5 A4 Quattro to a B5 S4. Sigh... What's he asking on the Beemer BTW?

There was a thread like this a little while back, and I think it was determined that people don't get free ones anymore.... Sorry man.

if it's on autotrader and the guy pulled it himself you can view it...that's about it for free ones.

If you are set on buying the car, spending the $25-30 or whatever it costs now for a single report seems like a no-brainer to me.

I remember seeing one report on here that said they changed the coil.... 9 times over the car's life.

I pulled three over the weekend which had cars that had airbags deployed (one twice)....so, it's worth it.

That makes sense... I have had to replace my A4's (basically a rebadged Passat) coils a few times. VW/Audi just did a recall on this too.

If you start an auction on ebay motors for $1 and use the VIN, you'll get a free autocheck report with your listing. Once you have what you need you can just end the auction.

It's not carfax, but it'll tell you the same info your looking for.
