Anyone here deal with the Debri GPR50 or Aprilia RS50?

I'm interested in getting a street bike but want to keep it at 50cc

Back when I had a 13 mile commute with a top speed of 40mph, I considered an old 50cc scooter, if the engine is that small, might as well get a comfortable scooter, it's not like the fairings make it faster. Are they available in the states?

After a 50cc street bike, yes they are in the states.

50cc and under means no reg, no tags, no MC license needed for it.

Top speeds of the ones I'm looking at are around 60mph with the stock gearing.

RS50s are a ball. They'd make a terrible only street bike, though. And not getting a tag or a license is a bloody terrible reason not to buy a big boy bike.

Yep. I've barely touched it in months. The open head pipes are so loud that it isn't fun to ride after about 10 minutes. I get complements on it every time I get off of it, but I'm going to have to break down and buy an exhaust for it before I can ride it more.

I had planned on just finishing what was on it, but the #1 primary is rusted through on the bottom. I just haven't felt like spending the money on a MAC 4-1, and haven't found anything else that I like...

1.) A Ninjette is hardly a big boy bike.

2.) You'll spend MUCH more on an RS50 in initial cost and shipping maintenance parts from Europe than you would on a decent Ninjette.

4.) The pre-08 Ninjettes are thoroughly terrible motorcycles. I used to think tehy were just pitifully slow, until I rode an 08+, and I realized that they sucked in all ways, mostly because you can't buy a decent 16" tire any more.

3.) I'd buy a CBR250R before I spent any kind of serious money on a Ninjette of any vintage. As much better as the 08-up Ninjettes are than the pre-08s, the CBR250 is twice as much better than that. Fuel injection, torque, looks like a real bike and not a Play Skool toy.

250cc on the street is too slow, therefore dangerous. Get something that can get out of it's own way or you will be roadkill.

You'd have to be severely overweight for a 250cc to not be enough power. 250cc is plenty for most people on the highway.

I've ridden both the 500R (great bike) and the new and old 250s. All are more than enough to get around at all legal speeds. Too many people pass them up...and we're just spoiled by 100+hp bikes.

I had a 500r and a friend has the 08 250.
I'm sorry but the 250 is just pathetically slow.

I don't disagree with you guys, it definitely is enough power to get around town and very economical, so if your only intention is to putt putt around while getting 60mpg then its definitely not a bad bike, but we swapped a few times and rode each others bikes back to back, and that thing is just ***** slow. And this is coming from someone that has never even redlined his TT600, so I'm by no means a daredevil or high speed freak.

Don't they run like 15's? Whereas the 500 will run low 13's.
The 500 was the MOST PERFECT blend of power/comfort/economy ever. Just fast enough to be fun but not kill you in .05 seconds. Love that bike. Take a look at one of those Techsalvager, I dont think you'll regret it.

A stock miata won't run 15's, and I don't think anyone would say it's not safe to drive on the highway.

Speaking of 250cc, I bought a brand new China dirt bike a few months back. It's zero street legal, but there's a bunch of trails about an hours drive from where I live. The motor is a direct copy from a Honda (can use Honda parts in it), and it's ridiculously strong. The suspension is a bit bouncy, but other then that it's a solid trail bike. I had to assemble it myself, but with tax (12%) and shipping included, it was $924. It's a Gio X31.

I actually have a spare Honda 250cc motor I was gonna make a gokart with (motor, ignition and carb).

I'll have to look into that.
