I finished my 1.0L Geo Metro engine rebuild yesterday. First drive (although it was only 82 miles mostly hwy) calculated to 55 MPG. Hopefully I am not too far away from that. The car was getting around 34 with three burnt exhaust valves (not much compression at all) and a cracked piston. I added a +10 degree cam shaft sprocket and a fuel efficient cam grind to the engine build.

I get just over 30mpg on club runs (they do include about 1.5hours on the highway to get up to the mountains). I wonder what I'd do if I tried to get good mileage.

I get 31-32 mpg on my N/A 1.8 during prolonged highway cruising with MS running 15.0-15.5:1 AFR. Mixed city/hwy it's more like 26-27. On the stock ECU it was about 1 mpg less all around. If someone claims over 30 mpg in town on a stock engine they are either bad at math or they upshift at 3000 rpm. A high percentage of the general motoring public never winds out the engine for fear of hurting it.
