Default My brakes work really good!

Good enough to stop a Grand Am going 25mph in less than 3 feet.

So it looks like I'm might need a new chassis. Any tips on dealing with the insurance co. with a turbo miata, with full suspension, hard top, and torsen?

Pics tomorrow.

I had a feeling that title was going to lead to something bad... How does the miata take a crash? How did you take it?

I'm ok, I've had bigger wrecks. The miata though driveable has a creased right rear fender, damaged trunk, bumper and bumper cover destroyed, which probably not as bad as Brain's wreck, will likely total the car out.

I don't think my alignment is more than 2 mm out if at all, but the rear fender liners are rubbing on the tire.

Disable the hood release before it goes to the insurance lot, or it might be stripped when you get to it. [ask how I know] Buy the hulk back (ask the insurance agent about this, it's common) and argue what they give you for the difference. They won't cover most add ons, but if you get them back, it doesn't matter.

It's currently locked in my garage, the car isn't moving untill i get a check and arraignment that satisfies me. Should I pull the turbo, rolbar, suspension, ect, and convert back to basically stock over the weekend?

i wouldn't. and certainly didn't.

if the car is totaled the car is totaled. You'll get face value for the car in the form of a check. you either buy back the car, or they come and tow it away after all the paperwork is completed. either way, you can wait to swap parts since the car is in a garage....

NO! Have the adjuster come over and take a look. Doesn't sound too bad based on your description. As long as the frame is not bent, it's not too expensive to fix. A quarter cut will cost only $200-250.

If the car's totalled, just buy the salvage rights back from the ins co and swap over braineack style.

I wish it was like that here. It is a battle to not get your insurance voided if you make a claim and you are modded. When HIT by someone, not you hit someone.

Essentially I am driving around with no insurance, even though I am paying 140$ a month for it. If I was to have the mods claimed and such, it would be 600+ a month.

Cool. Thanks for the advice guys, my mind is still racing. I think I'll buy this one back, I've got the rear of another car in my back yard. I think maby I'll give my dad the two halves and take the left over money and find a new, cleaner chassis, Brain style. He's been wanting a miata anyway.
