my new BOV
So who thinks my new BOV is gonna be louder than an asian girl having ---- sex with a black man for the first time*? It's a Greddy Type RS. Haven't put it on the car since Tim welded the flange on for me Sunday because the weather has been **** all week. The horn on it has me concerned as do the holes drilled in it. Are those there to make it whistle? anyone got one of these?
* btw, that's not the sound I am looking for. I prefer a quieter BOV.

The holes (and for that matter, the horn itself) are there to make noise. Period.
I have a Chinese knockoff of the same BOV- it's of surprisingly good quality, pretty much indistinguishable from the genuine article except without the word Greddy cast in the side. I removed the whistle-tip and made a threaded adapter on the lathe to fit a small K&N air filter on the exhaust. It's much quieter / less annoying now. Still louder than a recirculated Bosch, but when it vents it's just a nice, mellow *pssht* as opposed to a *fweeeeeeem!* I think you can buy these adapters on eBay rather cheaply.
Also, consider opening up the BOV and removing the center (smaller) spring from the inside. This softens it up a great deal (the range of the screw on the top is quite limited) and makes it vent much sooner and more gently.
Nice looking flange, BTW. Tim is a much better welder then I am.

i have the real-deal RS on mine... love it... not loud enough though lol. Yes it does the "chime" or "whistle" when the last bit of air is going out. I have gotten quite used to the whistle when lifting the throttle (even not in boost), heck i keep expecting the noise when driving my GF's MSM which has a knock off dual-horn RFL......

Yes, though it's been so long that I can't remember who the seller was. And I don't know about a "good version" and a "bad version". There are probably more than two companies making these, all I can say is that the one I got was very well-machined and has lasted over a year thus far with absolutely zero problems and zero maintenance apart from the initial springectomy. I kinda figure that at $45 - $55 (typical, including shipping) it's really not a big deal if you have to buy two of them to get one that works- you're still way ahead of the game price-wise.
