Default why I have not been around lately

Because I hate time warner's service.

My Cable internet has been down since last friday. They are schedule to fix it today. And I had monday off from work, and they closed my school district yesterday due to weather. So no net for me.

+1 for incompetence

the bad thing with them is that they have cable guys, phone guys, and internet guys, each one says something different and don't really know whats going on...

yeah and unfortunately have no other option for Cable internet as I hate DSL.

I just signed up for their dial-up access. yeah for 56gay. If i can even get my laptop working. I am so behind on my grading because I can not use my remote access.

And yes I agree the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. I've had two techs in my house and I was showing them (not that i know much) but how to ping using windows=>cmd=> ping www.miata.net

to show them how i was loosing packets

I once had to take two full days off of work in order to wait around for a repair guy from Time Warner to fix my cable. They never came, and I didn't get my cable fixed. Time Warner insisted that it was working, even though they admitted not sending somebody to come check whether it was or not.

I told them I didn't want to pay for something not working, so they agreed to send somebody out again. I asked if there was a time outside my work hours that they could come...of course not. So I asked if I had to be there....yes. I asked if they'd discount my service for the two days of work I had to miss for their failed apointment or for this third inevitable day...no. So when they didn't show up the third day, I was pissed. Called back to bitch, and just then I saw a Time Warner truck outside.

Ran out to the truck, and the guy says it had been down for scheduled maintenance, and that I should have received notice...nope. Was told that it was on file, and that the service people should have told me upon calling for an apointment...again, nope.

Problem finally solved...I moved into Charter cable's district.

*** isn't much better.

When I first moved into my house last year, they had a "free installation" deal. Well, except for the trip charge of $49.95. After threatening to cancel my service, they reversed all the trip charges as well as all the otehr bullshit charges on their "FREE installation" deal.

I want FIOS!

make sure to get $$$ for everyday down. $30 a month, means $1 a day for no service.

^ +1. Same here. I can hardly justify 50 bucks a month for internet, but at the same time, i don't think i could live without it.

why do you hate DSL? real reasons or just chose a different religion?

mine's been rock solid everywhere I've had it (i watch satellites, not cables), if only 3megs downstream.
