Default Need a cheapish SA05 helmet...suggestions?

Well it seems the racing organizations I play with aren't going to allow me to use my sa95 helmet anymore so I need to upgrade.

I'm looking for a SA05 helmet, preferably full faced and priced around $200.

Anyone have any ideas, and know the best place to buy from?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Zamp. Best bang-for-buck on the market right now.

Dot can't you just run a DOT/snell rated MC helmet? you can get a 2005 rated or better for 140-150$

I'm not trying to be a dick, but as I said I need/want a SA05 rated helmet.

Just wondering which ones people recommend and where's the best/cheapest place to buy them.

Thanks

A lot of the Zamp ones are SA05...just about 240-250 though.

My wife has one of these, I have:http://www.apexperformance.net/cartg...id=1595&cid=18 because the Zamp was NA when I ordered.

The best part - no shipping, no tax, and a free pair of these bad boys:

(used to be they offered them free, last time I had to ask for them, so they may be phasing out the free glove program).

This is what I got as a gift for the wife a while ago:

http://www.racerwholesale.com/produc...roducts_id=559

or you can get this one - a little bit cheaper:

http://www.racerwholesale.com/produc...roducts_id=561

both are SA2005.
IIRC, the site has free shipping on both helmets

Not being a dick, but you should click on the links before saying anything. They have SA2005 rated in the $129 range and $199 range.

Yep- Zamp has a $200 full face with a face shield SA05- which beats out both Gforce and Pro Force $200 w/o face shield (if that's important to you).

I have used G-force and Pyrotect and have been happy with both, but Zamp (never heard of) has a full face for $179.

BTW...apex performance kicks ***. Great people!

That response was for Magna, not you. I did check out the link you posted, and yes Zamp does have a full face sa2005 for right at $200, thank you for the info, exactly what I was looking for.

I think I'm leaning towards the Pyrotect, I wore one of their full face helmets for a day and I liked it very much.

I was told last year at a NASA event that I would need a SA05 helmet this year however, looking at the rule book I don't think SA is required for HPDE and TT which is what I'll be doing. A local club to me (MCCI) is requiring SA05 this year.

Thanks again for all the info guys.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Zamp, G-Force, Pryo, ect are all made by the same Asian company. Doesn't matter to me as long it passed the industry standards. I have a Zamp full-face,btw and comparing it side by side to the more "name brand" ones offered no distinctions. I will say, however, that they run on the small side, so find a local speed shop and try one on beforing ordering blind.

Efini, sorry for the confusion.

www.saferacer.com has some good deals (G-force). usually free shipping and 10% off if you search the specmiata forums. I've had great service from them.

Thanks for being willing to help. I don't really know all the specific differences between the SA/DOT/ and Snell specifications. As far as I understand the main difference between SA and the others is fire resistance of the liner.

I'm not 100% sure if all of the clubs I am going to run with are going to require SA helmets or not but I do know if I get a SA05 helmet I'll be able to use it just about anywhere for the next ~8 years. I figure if I'm going to buy a helmet I might as well get one I know I'll be able to use.
