Default If you didn't have a miata...

...what would you buy as your hobby car (or if your miata is you DD, what car would you replace it with)?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I would definitely consider a (88-89) Mazda GTX. AWD, turbo'd, you can't go wrong.

So lets hear it...

Gti Vr6 turbo....no question about it

Either a Buick Grand National or a Subaru WRX STi or a heavily modded RX7 Turbo II.

I've got a '96 Trooper with 137K on it. Runs fine, would keep it forever except the frame is rusting out. Need to get something like it this year before it splats on the road, but they don't make 'em anymore.

Any suggestions?

I've had a lot of other cars. Nothing beats the miata as far as grins per $ go. To have more fun, I'd need to spend a lot more. M5 perhaps, or the new 650 Coupe (that thing is sick). The last generation SL500 is nice (129 chassis iirc) but cost a fortune to keep running. I wouldn't mind a 69 Cutlass H/O or 70 442, but I'd feel real bad about driving them hard, so I think that would ruin a lot of the enjoyment.
