I've been doing geek stuff for 10 years now.... So while the current job is a good check, it's not the best. So you start looking for other opportunities. You just need to find something you thing you'll enjoy. It's much harder to suddenly say, I don't like, this line of work, I just want to go back to school, or do something completely different.... That takes usually a lot more commitment, and unfortunately, can hurt the pocket book at lot more.

At least sitting at a desk, you normally have net access....

As someone who got fcked by corporate america in the past... I can honestly say I know where you're comming from. luckily I like my current employer and they appear to like me.

my "grandpa" (read great uncle) retired from 3 different jobs, CHP, Shipworkers and Coast Guard.

thats at least 60 years of working. he lives on his own in victorville, smokes, eats bacon (only) and is 95. hes got loads of tattoos that now look like black blobs and is awesome. I can only hope to be as happy as he has been.
