"No, why should I?! They just are, OK?! Get over it!"

BTW, I'm sorry, I'm just feeling argumentative today...that, coupled with your boneheaded "argument" and the fact that some of you guys over here just live to bash FM or people that buy their kits (or frequent M.net to much for your taste), and I let it fly.

My bad.

Let's call it a draw.

Even though, in each of our minds, we secretly know we're right

It's o.k Brian,A real life bone head like me would choose the Dell over the HP "cause it's better",unlike your typical "pencil neck geek"comback and say"well why?care to explain".

I dislike FM cause of a bad experience that I had with them that left a bad taste in my mouth, and I don't care to explain.

Good call Brian,I'd say it's a draw and it's done.

There you go.

It's not like I really like FM products (overpriced, overplayed), but the kit itself isn't too bad. But now that I could build one myself nothing less than a stage 4 BEGi looks very "impressive".

I have to admit that FM does have a few products that are good, but they are overpriced and overplayed.Their new turbo kit is alright,I've seen many DIY kits that are better quality and looking.

I agree, but I do think their pricing will be quite competitive with BEGi's.

I think the old adage that FM's kits are overpriced may no longer be the case.

Regardless of their new turbo kits being cheaper on price or quality or both, you will have the FM followers purchasing their products no matter what people tell them.

Well of course. Just as many on this board (myself included), would (or do) prefer to spend their money on BEGi's stuff, even if they'd been told there were flaws with the product, etc.

Everyone's got a little fanboi in them.

Corky goes out of his way to help resolve problems as well. Like taking a look at my used FMU that I bought from FM.

The intercooler pipes..well more like intercooler silicone does it job I guess. It's a lot less precise IMO and it looks a bit tacky. Glad they figured out that you could route the pipes better than they did previously. They use to be a mess. Not a bad kit, but I wouldn't trade mine for it.

This is an interesting debate, but it's purely academic. As others have stated the performance differences between the two kits is likely to be more likely to occur from tuning than any hard differences. What would really be needed is an independent test of both kits to determine the real differences.

I think that given the opportunity I could improve the performance of both kits. Bell offers the look and feel of a custom built kit but at the expense of paying a bit more for it. You get some trick looking parts, but trick looking parts don't always make more power.

Having built a few turbo kits in my time, I can see the weaknesses and strengths of both implementations. I'm not saying that I can do it better, but I certainly could make recommendations to improve both.

Say, hypothetically, one or two people on this forum happened to be trying to build their own kit similar to the ones on trial, and want it to have the fewest weaknesses. What would your improvements be to the FM and BEGi kits?

yeah to really compare you'd have to install both kits on the same car, have them tuned to the nuts by the same tuner, and then run them both on the same dyno, then driven on a track by the same driver.

It's not just the durability of the IC pipes that I question, its the fact that they are insulators, making the intercooler the only cooling the charge air gets. I don't know how significant it is, but I'd imagine metal IC piping cools the air slightly on its way into the IC.

FM has new kits, Corky has a new book in the works. They both have very different business model and that's a good think for consumer choice. Both companies have great potential to prosper.

Of course we are all biased to the Vendors we have had good experiences with. Personally my experience with FM this year was being told that they had no turbo kits for sale, and no relevant parts on the shelves to help me piece one togther. On one call to Corky, he basically said if he didn't have a jig to make what I wanted, he'd be happy to build one.
