Lightbulb Making progress with the Miata

As some of you know, I bought this Miata off Craigslist a few weeks ago, it was pretty well riced out by a previous owner, and needed some TLC.

I've gotten rid of the bulk of offending parts, and started cleaning it up.
So far I've gotten a Tein Flex suspension & FSTB, HardDog hardcore roll bar (on the way) to replace the gay style bar, stock seats to replace the super-narrow Corbeau A4's, Hankook 225/45/15 RS2's, 15x8 6ul's in silver, a hardtop, and a few other minor things. I'm also in on a group buy for a CF hood & trunk. The next major purchases will be a Megasquirt Plug-N-Play ecu, BEGI cast manifold & divorced downpipe, and either a GT2560 or Disco Potato, & 3" exhaust.

This is how it looked when I bought it.

Holy HUGE-*** wheels! And how 'bout those Altezza tails?

Riceboy pedals, shifter trim ring, & shifter

Real S2000 starter button , faded and torn Corbeau A4's with non-functional harnesses, and stuck sliders. And as a special bonus, the stock seat belt receivers were missing, so I had to drive the car 3 hours home with no seat belts at all. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the neon tube between the seats. I kid you not.

And here it is as of today. It's coming along nicely. I can't wait to get the Teins & 6UL's installed, I think it's really going to look great with those wheels. For now, I'm running a set of CompLite's I've had hanging around instead of those massive Kosei's.

I took someone's advice and posted a WTT on the m.net classifieds, and got a nice stock set in trade. Thanks for the compliment. Oh, and great job on your sig, that's some classic ****.

Looking better looks like you've come a long way in a short amount of time. I would remove the chrome vent ring too and hit the shifter with some black paint or something.

Thanks, I'm undecided on the vent trim rings, and there's a FujiRacing TypeB shifter on the way.

Dangit! I've been looking for a cheap set thats not damaged.

Planning on ripping them apart, building some LED circuit boards to mount inside, then painting everything in it flat black. The red lens inside I want to leave a small red piece and paint the rest with a transparent black paint. See how it looks, anyway.

No problem, you've made more appearance progress than I have since I bought the car in 2004.

Just a little update -

I started the HarDog install.

And have the following goodies on the way:

FM Butterfly brace & rails
FujiRacing BSpec shifter
1 din 3 gauge panel
Autoconexion CF trunk & vented hood

My Hankooks arrived yesterday, the 6UL's should be here in about 2 weeks.

Wow! You just got this car. You didn't waste time at all!
That's a cool looking NA, with the lip spoilers and the silver stripe.
Love the complite's. They look just like the ATS DTC's.
Is that a HDHCDD hard top w/harness bar? If so, that's what I'm planning on getting next, for the track.

Very cool.

Thanks John! The spoilers are factory R package stuff. The stripe is going away once I get the new CF hood and trunk. AFAIK, Comps are just the 7" version of 8" DTC's. I'd love to find a set of DTC's if you know of any for sale.

The rollbar is the HDHCDD soft top version. I wasn't planning on getting a hard top, but a local one turned up and I couldn't say no. I think it'll fit, but the sidelatches won't.

Yea I have a HDHCDD and my side latches for a hardtop fit, but you can't get a star bit in to tighten down the driverside all the way. Doesn't matter to me right now as someone sold the HardTop before I got the car. bastards.

There was a company sell new latches(beatrush I believe) that moved the locking part either back or forward. You should look for them, they were on CR and it seemed like it would work with the HDHCDD, instead of just not running them.

We can work something out if you want. They're 17x7.5 +35 with 205/40/17 Eagle GT HR's. 3 wheels and tires have under 2,000 miles one wheel & tire is brand new. Somehow, the previous owner managed to curb all the wheels in that short time.

I also have 3 17x7.5 +45 but Kosei stopped making the 45's and I can't locate a 4th.

I doubt he thinks they're 15's, just look at them in those pics.

Thanks for the invite, but that's a little too intimate for me. I'm sure I'll meet you guys at an outdoorsy type event in the near future.
