Top Gear America = Fail
Well, I finally watched my first episode of the American version of Top Gear. I figured by episode 5 (driving the old GM cars) they would have their **** together and be able to make a decent car show. I was wrong and I would like to have that hour of my life back please. I didn't crack a smile and didn't learn anything about autos that I did not know before. What a complete piece of ****! I'm not sure if they have cancelled the show yet but I'm sure the announcement will be coming soon.

Cry about it all you want, but when you're done get out a tub of chocolate Haggen Daaz and turn on Motor Week because that's the best American car show you'll see by default. Enjoy watching a bi-petal hippo crawl into a Buick and drive it around on cruise control.

BBC doesn't have a hard time coming up with new ideas. I could write a better show than that crap.
Idea #1 - 71 Vette vs 2011 Vette
Idea #2 - What is the REAL MPG of the current hybrid cars.
Idea #3 - Which two seater gives you the most room for luggage.
Idea #4 - Which super car gives you the fastest 0 to 100 to 0 for the $
Idea #5 - What car gives you the best MPG at 130 MPH.
There, it took me 30 seconds to come up with that ****. Never once did the idea of putting eggs over someones head and seeing how many break when driving over a bumpy road or seeing which used car has the best emergency brake come to mind. I hope they lose a lot of money on this show.

I've never seen TG America, but that's a very TopGearUK stunt right there, if TG:USA did that it's only aping what the UK version does?

One of TG's goals of TG America was for people to NOT compare it to the UK version, but that's just incredibly hard to do. I mean, I watch the show but only because some TG is better than nothing. It's not necessarily the show that sucks, its the hosts. Tanner Foust is great, but Adam Carolla and whoever the **** the other guy is just look out of place and seem awkward and like they're reading off of cue cards the whole show.

The first few episodes were lackluster, but I genuinely enjoyed the Key West race and the Las Vegas race - I found myself watching not because it's TG, but because it was genuinely entertaining television. The in-studio bits are still lackluster but they will be like that for the entire season since they were all filmed at once (I went to a taping session in LA). The in-car bits seem good, and the hosts have excellent off-screen chemistry (based on how they interacted with each other with the cameras off).
UKTG has had 15 seasons to get it right. Give it time - it's getting better, IMO.

I keep trying to watch it but I still can not stand the fat guy. Just looking at him make me change the channel. I'd rather watch decorating shows on HGTV with my GF that watch him. Boy do I hate him.
Although I'm as happy as a tick at a pound now that I've discovered that I can listen to Adam Corollas carcast on my ipod via pod cast. i've some how ignored that featuer of my ipod for way to long.
