I've seen that being done before. I think $3,500 isn't a bad asking price for it, but why make a Miata into a Z3? Just buy a Z3.

I saw one once that had a monster miata 5.0 conversion. It was one of the most confusing things i've ever seen.

It's actually somewhat awesome. I would love to show up at one of our local BMW club track days (which are some of the primary miata track days here) with this thing.

+1 on the "Z3 that handles well" comment. I am regularly smoking a local Z3 owner who is on hoosiers. Part of that may be driver reluctance to commit on his part in the high speed corners rather than raw car capability, though. We're about equal on power.
