OMG OMG what tires
For my R package on the stock 14x6's.
I want something with pretty good treadwear and OK traction for the street. I guess just the best bang for the buck on the value minded side??

By "good" treadwear, do you mean low or high?
My strong advice for a good street tire that will get you adequate mileage are Toyo T1R's. There are other tires that are stickier, and others that will last longer, but for the price, it' hard to find a better all around tire that nicely balances performance and longevity. If you're running over about 180whp though, I'd seriously consider stepping up to some 15" wheels at least 7" wide... Toyo sells the T1R in 215/45/15 on. That's my next purchase as I'm way under-tired at 200whp with my 195 T1R's. I'm also considering Falken Azenis 615, but I think I want somethign that's gonna last longer.
If you're looking for something "performance all season" with some higher treadlife and keep the stock tread-size of 185/60/14, then Dunlop Sport A2's or Falken Zeix 912/512,

i have 195/55/14 ziex 912 tires on my daily driver and they do well enough. Ive driven agressively on them and they respond ok to it. This is after daily driving my other turbo miata on 205 azenis as well.

I've heard good things about the T1R, and may try them next.
The ziex are nice because they have a mileage warranty, which I for one would definitely make full use of .
Azenis kick ***, but don't last.
If you had a 15" wheel I'd vouch for G-force sports, exactly what you described as they balance wear and grip nicely.

OK, you guys can laugh now, but I have run the cheap 195/60/14 Kumho's on Daisies on two different Miata's with good mileage and good wet and dry stick. RS2's initially and now V700 for Autocross, track, and Mob runs.
UPDATE: Nitto NT-01's now. Far superior to the V700 and RS2's. Still like the Kumho's for street when not on a Mob run.

so true... I bought cheap rims so I can get good tires. Then again I track mine every now and then and have my forged bbs with r's.

Since were on the topic, does anyone have any experience with the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 or the Falken Ziex ZE-512?

t1r's are the bomb, but I don't spend that kind of money on street rubber.
