Default Painting the Camaro. Advice?

Hey Guys

Finally ready to paint the camaro. Its a 97 Z28. Came from GM in black with silver stripes.

I hate the stripes, they are out, in fact all stripes are out.

Will be doing a full repaint, replacing the bumper, driver front fender, and rear hatch with GM parts, and will also be shooting the jams.

Since Im doing the jambs I have considered a color change.

Original plan was solid black, removed side molding and badges, fill camaro lettering in tailight panel, remove and smooth emblem in front bumper, and possible removing antenna and hatch key hole. Then put white 17" Zr1 wheels on.

Best photoshop I have.

I really do like red, and If I did a color other than black the headlight recesses, grille openings, mirrors (maybe), and sail panel (roof behind ttops), would be done in black like from GM. May also do the tailight panel in black like a berger car.

Picture to illustrate. (my panel will be smooth, no letters)
This guy has SS hood (which I dont) but you can see the black parts)

I have strongly considered a matte white ever since seeing the GM performance cars, theres are pearlescent matte white which I wont do, just matte white.

Matte white GTO (dont know if Id do black wheels on matte white)

Pearlescent matte white GMP cars.

SO what do you guys think, Im open to suggestions as long as they dont involve stripes. or flat black. Pictures to go along would be nice also.

If I decide on black and white wheels, I have a set of TA seats I will be reuphosltering in white and painting the plastic seat backs black to tie them into the rest of the interior.

Similar to this

I really dig those matte pearl cars, but I don't think it would work well on your car. I vote you keep the idea with the solid black.

When I was younger I had a buddy that had that body style camero and I always wanted it. Black car with the blacked out headlight covers. I remember he had the loudest ******* system in that thing.

I vote for black as well, but NOT for the white/black interior. That'll kill it. Keep it blacked out and do the white wheels if you want, but don't go overboard with the white. Makes it tacky IMO.

I also really like this color

Medium Quasar Blue

Also want to do this hood, but not at first, probably be a little before I spring for a hood, need to finish the interior and suspension first

And this spoiler, except I will probably do this with paint.

Considered a matte silver to.

Any ideas guys?

First year ls1?
This is my dads 96 Z with t-tops. Sweet ride, but not as fast as the mazda. I have always liked the color though.

I like the camaro. It isn't obvious to me in the picture....why are you painting it? The paint looks good. Wheels suck donkey dick. I guess the point I am getting to is.......why put money into paint instead of more performance enhancing endeavors???

EDIT: Ahhh, best "photoshop" What does it look like now?

That not my car Mine is the same body style but has silver 30th anniversary stripes. The reason Im painting it is previous owner neglect, and a jackass ran into me when pulling out of his balla status parking job so my left front fender is broken and. The hatch has some cracks from PO closing it with the spoiler.

Ive been saving for a while so I could do it all at once but the broken neck kinda put a damper on that, finally Ive recovered and Im doing body work, redoing interior, and finishing the suspension.

Im not hunting for anymore power til I fix all the small things that bother me (road noise, rides too rough) and makes this a perfectly liveable DD.

Its the last year of the LT1

I love the 4th gen F-bodies but I've never seen an exhaust tip option that looked quite right. In my opinion, they look best with turndowns right after the axle.

As far as color goes, everything is cool save for purple and teal as long as you paint the berger panel.

Thats true, they always looked a little too "after market" and not in a good way. Case in point:

^seems like one is always hanging a little lower then the other, thats not even a difficult fix.

This looks much better though:

Not a fan of the TTM wheels. I prefer the TT2s with gunmetal spokes, polished cap and lip.

I do like that rear valence that was posted, If I cant find a 2OTL catback, Im gonna do a custom setup with a real CME valence. (Hooker exhaust is too loud)
I have corsa tips now (like these)

CME valence Id like to do

How do yall feel about this spoiler Im on the fence

Im pretty sure Im gonna do the black/white wheels combo, unless I someone convinces me otherwise.

I am going to see the bodyman tuesday to set up a date.
