Default PC, Gaming, TV idiot needs help

I want to upgrade our TV. While I'm at it, I want a Wii. And since all I have to internets on is this laptop of mine, I want to get a PC that will work with the new TV as the monitor.... w/ a wireless keyboard for couch fapping. We have cable internet and netflix and we Hulu. The PC should be Blue Ray compatible. I would like to go wireless as much as I can.

ideal sit...

40" hd 120h LCD under $500
wall mount
wii
tower; fully loaded
surround sound

ENTERTAINZMENT HEAVEN

I have a 19" Element HD thats great so I thought this would work...
tv clicky

would this be enough for surfing and homework and do they come loaded the same as complete pc setup?
tower clicky

the wii is easy, just go to Game Stop... (and get a 360 at the same time)

am I going about this alright or am I off in left field, and I need to visit some other site for better deals on better electronics?

Im a 'tard with this ****...

Pretty much every pc with a dedicated video card these days will have an hdmi port, and then plenty with onboard video will have it too. Anything that says geforce, or ION will likely have a hdmi port. And if not, any hdtv worth a **** will have a VGA and maybe a DVI port too.

How much ******* money do you have?!?

The tower is just that, a tower. On top of that, you'd need a $100 keyboard/mouse combo, and a $100 blue ray dvd player. Then you'd need an HD cable to go from the tower to TV, which I have no idea if it's compatible for use as a computer monitor or not.

So that's:
$500 TV
$300 Tower
$100 K/B&mouse
$100 DVD blue ray
$250 Wii
$200 360
$500? surround sound

We're a little over $2000 without any games, extra controllers, wall mount for the TV, wireless networking devices, cables, etc. That **** would probably be an extra $300 total.

And you're a student?!?

Make sure to get your TV Mount and all the cables you need from monoprice.com.

Im not the student, she is. I have been watching tv on a 19" with 21 channels for a year and a half so that I could afford to get what I wanted on a small budget. Im hoping to stay around $1400 to $1500 without any games, but with a cheap surround sound. Prolly no 360, but I only Halo so whatever...

I guess i need to go to best buy just to get an idea of how it all needs to go together....

Do your shopping online, if you go to Best Buy, it sounds like you're the type of person that would walk out of there with $2000 in crap. If you only play Halo, why are you getting a Wii? Get the new 360 and be done with it. It does Netflix, wireless, stores music, videos, etc. That would eliminate the need for a PC. Have the wife use the laptop for homework, and get the Microsoft keyboard if you need to do typing on the xbox.

HDMI Output
No

No HDMI out for the PC. It's probably better to have someone build one for you anyways.

HDMI is fully backward compatible with DVI. you dont need an HDMI port. Just plug in this two dollar and thirty cent magic adapter:

Wow, I may not be the smartest person in the world. But you sir, are completely worthless to society.

I meant no HDMI on THAT PC.

Also if your dumbass bothered to look at the PC the OP posted you will see it does not have DVI or HDMI out, only VGA. Lets recommend a PC that uses VGA when he plans on using it with an HDTV. That is retarded. Also thanks for giving out false advice to everyone that reads this thread regarding geforce and ION having HDMI. Now plz gtfo.

lol@you, the OP asked for advice about the **** he posted. Your right let's not even click what he is interested in and go right into posting a **** ton of PCs... why not just link to bestbuy.com.

I instead looked at what he was looking at, mentioned it didn't have HDMI so he might not want it (no DVI either so that adapter is worthless). VGA + HDTV is not worth it.

I'm using my acer revo nettop on my 42" 1080P tv right now through VGA. Looks ******* great. Infact, it looks just as good as through its HDMI output. I'd use the HDMI output, but the TV doesn't like to center the picture, so I use VGA instead. Zero difference in quality. Not to say thats always the case, but its pretty ignorant to just disqualify it from the get go.

You are right though, I'm not going to click his faggy aids infested links. He admits in his title that he's basically a retard fuctioning at an elementary school level. I bypassed the bullshit and just found some PCs in the first 10 seconds of opening the thread. I'm merely illustrating that there are in fact, a **** ton of PCs out there with HDMI. All he has to do is look for one. Bestbuy was just a matter of convenience.

You can go hang yourself while masterbating like David Caradine now, Thanks.

Geez guys. Research much?

First and foremost, CHECK OUT SLICKDEALS.NET before buying ANYTHING. I will guarantee you can save a whole lot more than you think.

I have a 5.1/7.1 surround sound system in my studio. I buy all my wire from monoprice, as well as speaker stands for the satellite speakers I have around the room, because its super cheap there. Cant drill holes in the wall. You can buy a cheap wall mount from monoprice too. Avoid costco, they charge $100 just for a wall mount.

Do your research on a surround sound system. I would avoid a HT-in-a-box combos alltogether because the receiver/system that is included in those arent as versatile as fully featured receivers. I did my research and I purchased a refurbished AVR-247 Harmon and Kardon receiver. Comes with 2 HDMI inputs and one out, and a bunch of other inputs and outputs. It can upscale up to 720P and pass through 1080P signals. Unfortunately, it cant do TrueHD-DTS or TrueHD-Dolby Digital, but its good for what its worth. I bought my speaker system from a company called the speaker company (TSC, but no longer in business), and they make some really good stuff for the price. Cost? $100 bucks. I bought the harmon and Kardon receiver from ebay. Original price was at $250, but using Bing CB (no longer available) at 35% off, I got it for only a measly $180. There you go. 5.1/7.1 surround system for 280 bucks. The sound is phenomenal.

I built a HTPC/Powerful PC for less than 600. Caught some combo deals when Fry's had god deals about a year ago. Bought a AMD Phenom X4 II 965 black edition with a MOBO for 200. Bought a tower off craigslist for 20 bucks. Buought a plorethra of fans and power supply with a 9800GT video card with HDMI outs. Spent only 50 for those. Bought some extra hard drives and a HDTV tuner for, spent only another 150. Then I bought a monitor for only 75, brand new e-machines 20" when staples had a deal going on. Full 1920x1080 resolution. Then just extra stuff like key board and mouse.

If youre in a rush to purchase all of this stuff, by all means head to your B&M shops and buy what that sales man throws at you. Properly research before buying will have better benefits, not to mention a better system overall.

Again, check out slickdeals.net. I'll bet you can find a brand new Wii deal for only $149, or a brand new Xbox360 for cheap too.
