Picking a Handgun...
#104
Good thread here and timely for me. I also searched some other threads to find the old thread when Ben Purchased his handgun.
My permit to purchase arrived today and I'm not sure yet what I want. Current thought process is a 9mm G19 if it fits, if the Glock doesn't work for me I'm thinking a P239. I just need to get out the range and rent each to see what works for me.

www.budsgunshop.com for great pricing... my local guy hooked up a hair cheaper... but typical shops won't touch that pricing.
Can't wait for my M&P and the Sub 2000 to get in.

I prefer revolvers, but normally when Im carrying Im hunting, so I dont mind having a big *** pistol strapped to my leg.
I shoot a Ruger Super Black Hawk .44 Mag.
I shoot mostly 44 specials but always shoot a few mags to stay proficient but the mag are kinda loud for an indoor range and unless its just me and my friends, I keep them to a minimum.
I have no problem keeping it for a home defense weapon, I can definetly stop someone with it, and Im proficient out to about 70 yards but have reached out to almost 100 yards a couple of times, been shooting it for a long time though, pretty mucht he pistol I learned on.
If you dont want a revolver, my brother and a bunch of friends have started carrying a .40 Kahr. Its light and cheap. None of us realy carry nice guns though, I consider a carry gun a throw away gun as Id probably beat it up. Thats where the low cost really comes in handy. Ive shot my brothers quite a bit and at the range youd be at in a home invasion its plenty accurate.

I did finally put a Sub 2000 (9 MM version) in my hand the other day. They didn't have one to rent or I would have bought a box of shells and tried it. It wasn't nearly as awesome as I had in my mind from looking at all the pictures on the net but it was still an interesting gun.
While I was playing with the Sub2k the guy told me about Keltec's new shotgun. I had never heard of it before. I'd rather have one in 20 GA because I enjoy having an intact collar bone but it still looks interesting. I think the best thing about it is that sometime you will be able to see it show up in video games and 15 rounds kills a lot of zombies:

Saw the shotgun videos recently and found it interesting. But just from videos and such, seems really flimsy (as flimsy as a shotgun can be) .
Had my brand new M&P9 Pro out at the range today. Performed flawlessly and ate everything I fed it. Going back for more tomorrow.
Kel-tec Sub 2000 is still on my list. Its on order for me... but the ETA is unknown. No one has them in stock and no one can say when Kel-Tec will be doing another batch of them. I'm sad... I either find a one in another magazine format (easier to find non-Glock 17 models) or wait it out. I already have 9 knockoff g17 magazine though to use with it... darnit.
