Oh also our head body guy is a Formula 1 nut, plays soccer, and wants to move to London, so our car is going to have wings...yeah, wings.
I think it is going to be gay, but he is in charge of that, and I'm just making the molds and fabricating other bits and pieces.

i wish we had the resources to do all that here at uconn. our FSAE just started and its pretty weak. im going to check it out on monday tho, maybe get more involved.

Yeah I joined FSAE last year and went to a few meetings. We were building the turbo 600cc for the first time. I wanted to help on the engine and tuning end but all the seniors said they already knew it all and I could just watch. So after a while I got tired of watch a bunch of dummies jerk each other off and I quit. Then their guy that was gonna tune everything quit too. So come Febuary/March they couldn't get it running. And they didn't compete that year.

Damn. When I went to school (early 80's) there wasn't anything going for auto enthusiasts that I knew of. What a great project and competition. Would be a kick in the butt to build something like that for track days. A home built smaller version of the Radical's or the like.

We keep it simple here at UM-Dearborn. I am not part of the team (because I'm a grad student and grads have too much work on their hands to be bothered), but I think they placed higher than UM-Ann Arbor who have 10 times the funds and facilities. Our team used a twin-cylinder Yamaha snowmobile engine with a CVT.

We are going to have a bunch of track days to find out whose good at what, hopefully ill be driving!
**** I forgot to take pics of the engine! But man the porting on that head is amazing, there is BARLEY any room for improvement, from the factory too!

That is awesome. I have my hopes up for driving this year, as I am the only one with any driving experience at all besides the guys who drove last year, but none of them have ever done any kind of autocrossing or track days before. I just want to drive it some, as it would suck to put all that time into it and never get any seat time. Also I have a very light schedule this semester so I will be at the shop a lot here before too long.

We got the shop ready today! Its in a complex where they have a full paint booth and huge oven for powdercoating, wooo.
it seems we have 2 brand new small *** garrett turbos too
who knos where they came from haha

And you suck. Our bodywork will be carbon fiber (sponsorship with Lockheed Martin) as we have enough rolls of it to last till 2015, but the team isn't comfortable with the monocoque idea, but it doesn't matter as we need to improve in many other areas as well.

The last one is my progress on the rack im makeing for all of our metal stock, about 1/3 done. I did all the cutting and welding myself, im proud haha.
