Eghh, few problems with this vid...

First off seems he's really defending Hillary accepting $$ from lobbyists..

2ndly, do you honestly expect me to believe that the lobbyists and who they represent don't manage to find a way around the $2300 limit?? Even Clinton mentioned that there's the lobbyists, and then those that the lobbyists represent...And I actually saw this episode on TV and I believe those parts were edited out...can't say for sure, but it does say 6min of unaired footage in the desc as well...

Anyway, yea man...honestly you (or Bill lol) can't expect me to believe that politicians aren't swayed by lobbyists (this is the definition of a lobbyist no?) or that the only financial motivator lobbyists have is a mere $2300...

Well thats prob well beyond me, but one thing they could do is bail out the actual homeowner's. Considering thats who the plan is supposed to help out...and considering its the tax payers that are paying for it...
How I dunno, but the same way they came up with a way to bail out the banks, they can figure it out...

I think part of the issue in the rejection was that the republican side of the house wanted govt insurance for bad debt rather than government buyout of it.

I think also there was some disagreement over the amount of regulation involved in handing out the long green.

plus, someone has to be buying the used KIAs.

Well technically my pay is about $40k, so I guess I am poor. That's before you add in my wife's 6 figure salary and military housing and food allowances. That brings me to about $180k household income (barely above the poverty line out here.)

I agree the price of gas affects everything transported, all the more reason to buy local I suppose. Honestly, I think that something should have been done years ago when gas hit $2.00 gallon, but the liberals were too busy being short sighted and cheering the increase in fuel prices.

After all... this is good for the environment.... right. Wrong... consumption remains virtually unaffected in this country by the middle class (like myself.) Stop belly-aching about the poor who can't drive anywhere and remember it's helping the environment.

Mark

PS - Mass transit in LA goes from Lancaster to Camarillo (over 90 miles away) so sure, it works. Just not really well... In NYC and DC though, mass transit works well.

ahahahah^^ only for IRS purposes (to y8's comment)...

Cool, only need 100billion more people and I'll devise my own bailout

Seriously tho, point is pretty ballsy and maybe a lil crazy to basically ask for 700bill with no one to answer to, nothing...
Kinda like saying...just trust me

Its official, today was the biggest single day loss in the market in history. Next closest was day markets resumed after 9/11.
They are supposed to meet again on Thursday...which means the next day and a half is gonna be hell...

And 1 more thing I just got word on, with the purposed bailout in sight, banks are pretty much suspending short sale approvals! I spoke with 3 realtors today that said they all were in limbo because the lenders are wanting to see what happens before they agree to any more shortsales...To me that just further pushes the point that the American people aren't getting any (at least not much) help out of this bailout..in reference to saving/preventing losing their homes...
(Short sale = bank agreeing to let you sell your house for less than you owe on it)

I know there's alot more than I'll ever know involved in putting this bailout together, but I gotta say in my eyes bailing out the PEOPLE would be the answer here. Banks being saved will still not put any kind of immediate spin on the economy...
A distressed homeowner thats in serious fear/danger of losing his/her home getting a notice saying they will not lose their home will immediately put consumers back on the market, and get the wheels spinning again...Possible to say if they would have done this already, the run on the banks may not have happened...

Off topic:
When's the next debate? I'm hoping they go into further details about the economy and the crisis...didn't get much other than vague/open ended answers on Friday, tho maybe it was because it was supposed ot be Foriegn policy debate...

then I'm well below poverty for this area.

I dont know where you got the "liberals cheering the increase in fuel prices", but buying local has always been a good idea. people still dont do that much either. I think what the "liberals" (whoever they might be) really want is for everyone to stop driving so much at any gas price.

But even knowledge of that doesn't stop people from driving 15mpg vehicles to work every day by themselves. Only it DOES--hence GM shutting down plants that build Hummers and the like. People didn't give it up, so it was taken from them.

After all... this is good for the environment.... right. Wrong... consumption remains virtually unaffected in this country by the middle class (like myself.) Stop belly-aching about the poor who can't drive anywhere and remember it's helping the environment.
Right, they're poor. they're dumb and lazy. they dont deserve the same rights as everyone else.

no way. LA mass transit is a joke. ask someone who lives there. and DC only serves... well, DC. most of Northern Virginia isn't included. A coworker just bought an affordable house 1.5 hours east of where we work. We work 20 minutes east of any metro station.

Same with the SF bay area. You can't get from Stockton (forclosure central) to SF without a car.

p.s. as a new yorker it seems at times that the public transit here is almost at its limit. at certain times of the day you may have to wait for a couple subway trains to come and go before there is one you can squeeze into.

Well, as far as affordable housing goes, if I can find a 5 bedroom house in Rockville for $285k on a 1/4 acre with a pool, then there is little need to complain about housing prices... bargains still exist. Yes, it's less than a mile to the metro station.

California has always had an inflated market and commuting from Stockton to SF makes no sense either.

Don't expect people to hand you a great deal, you actually have to look for them.

They're still limited by the amount of money to give. All those politicians have tons of whistle blowers on their asses. The second one of them receives a "gift", their career goes to the *******. Obviously corruption still exists, but the real problem is not lobbying groups but first hand, personal relationships with the corporations. Id est the situation with haliburton.

Yea I can understand that...point is one way or another $$$ goes in the pockets and thats what ultimately decides most of the laws we the people are governed by...

If anyone wants "deals" on housing I urge you to come to Sunny South Florida...
Cheap homes are growing on trees...not 40min outside city, run down neighborhood cheap homes....real deal, -5yrs old, 15min+ commute cheap homes...
I'm moving back to NY after 7yrs here...family reasons, otherwise I'd have the NY'rs moving down here.

South Florida is great for that! McMansions all in foreclosure. Land of urban sprawl and plastic culture!

But no really I love the 5-6-1

edit: and the 3-0-5

Okay, are you ******* retarded? What are you talking about? The house you linked to is a 3 bedroom (and it looks like a crap-tacular split level) that is "Being sold strictly as is" or did you think a person will sleep in each bathroom. Anyway, the housing market is still awful, unless you take your chances on a foreclosure. Wow, it's down 10-20% of the 40% inflated price, what a great time to buy (as everyone tells me).

You make 40k a year. So do plenty of people. At that salary, that 285k house is WELL over half your income per year. You would be completely house poor. Luckily you have a subsidy of 3.5 TIMES your salary.

Your circumstances are so extraordinary, compared to normal people, that I don't even have a vague idea why you would bring them up.

But yes, if you live close enough to DC you can use the public transportation. You pretty much have to. And it sucks. And you're still house poor.

Whatever, the Ravens suck, I'm going to bed.
