Default Pulled Trigger on new daily / winter beater

Was looking at the Mazdaspeed 3 hard, but after finding this .:R for $14,500 with 49K on her I couldn't help myself. The 3.75% financing my credit union gave me also sweetened the deal. The speed would have been about 20K or about another $125 a month for me. It came with a spare stock rim, 4 17" BBS wheels with Hakka snows, spare wipers, specialty tools needed for service work, and some rare .:R memrobelia. This car should have easily pulled in 18K or so by itself without any extras. Not a bad deal if I say so myself. Here's some pics.

**My buddy bought a speed3 the same day I got this, so I'll still get some seat time in the speed. It's definitly faster than the .:R!

have fun with the VW reliability gang-*******. Don't take this personally, but it takes a special kind of moron to buy a VW, especially a used one with no warranty. You'll learn...I bought 4-before I moved on to real vehicles.

Such nice interiors. I wish the mechanical and especially electrical quality followed suit :(

This forum and the "VW crowd" seem like complete polar opposites to me, but maybe that's what you want in a daily. If you're going to buy a VW, you definitely bought the right one. Looks nice, I'd like to see a pic w/ the 5 spokes on.

VW was teh **** on early Mk4s, but by the time the R rolled out, they had it fixed a lot of problems. I've driven a couple of Rs and enjoyed myself, hell of a car to have for a winter 'beater'.

Well 9 VW's came through my family from 2001-2006 and every single ******* one of them was a raging piece of **** without exception. I'm not talking about little ****, I'm talking about total failure of any and everything. Its your money not mine.

Nice car, the exhaust note on those things is sex. Now just shave that nasty front plate mount.

AUDI & VW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT and/or other problems all the time, Other then that great cars. The worst is you fix one thing and the check engine light goes out for about a week then boom back on for something new.

That thing is about 12k too expensive to be a winter beater... One of my buddies just moved back from Detroit (Pontiac, actually) where he worked for GM Racing. His winter beater was a ~82 F250 with a 460, a 4 spd, and a snow plow with 'No Insurance' spray painted on it . THAT is a winter beater.

Haters. It will be a dream car. 100% reliable. You'll never have an issue.

Just wanted to throw some good karma your way!

I've had a bunch of used cars over the years. Many were ones everyone said stay away from. I've been lucky with all of them. Never had a significant or expensive problem to fix I didn't cause myself.

Good call. My "super reliable" honda product has been a nightmare from day 1.

Nice car but you gotta pay to play with those VWs, lot's of electrical/reliability issues. You should get one of these check engine stickers for your side windows.

LOL, thanks for the feed back guys! I think any problems that do arise with this beauty will be greatly out weighed by the positives. I love it and the price was right!!

Hustler, do remember that unlike MANY Vdubs, the .:R is actually made in Germany....maybe it was the shitty vw models your family was buying over the years and the quality control in Mexico...

But to each their own, I'll take the bad with the good

Oh, and I'd like to revoke my statement about the speed being faster...my buddy got tore up by me in the twisties during lunch today....straights, it was a dead heat.

Vroom Vroom:

Very nice buy / find. I like how your refering to the damn thing as an .:R . . . Its just a GOLF / POLO...... like the MINI / Mini fight. Keep the designation right. You will find its querks. Still have fun with all creature comforts and solid power frame.

ENJOY
