I'm no stranger to rectifiers, as we have one of the world's best micro-replication facilities in the world. But we're only running 2-3% of that amperage for most stuff.

I'm used to working with large rectifier stacks, but usually we go in the opposite direction. The power supply for the final amplifier tube in a large FM / VHF transmitter is typically operating at 10-20 kv / 2-3 amps. So, a very large number of smallish diodes in series, bolted to a truly impressive heatsink.
