One of our "smaller" rectifiers humming away today. Unsure what they had in the tank, but the juice was flowing pretty good. This one is only 6000a at 60v. The bigger ones behind it are 8000a 80v, they can give you quite the tickle when you touch the bus bars.
Here's the magnetic field in action.
I know i've posted the picture of the wrench magnetically connected the beam the PLUMBING is being grounded on. Yay for electricity.

In my line of work we deal with tens of kilovolts, but at currents measured singly in amps. Skinny wires with loads of insulation and shielding.
Anyway, picture content...
As many of you know, I've never been much of a "paying for software" kind of guy. After installing Win10, I found that Acronis 2013 no longer functioned, so I had to obtain a newer version.
Despite my best efforts, the software seems to have detected my nefarious acquisition method. And yet Acronis have chosen to deal with this in a manner which is so humorous and meta-condescending that I've decided to break down and actually buy a legitimate copy.

I love the subtle humor here. And $29.99 is, in fact, a 40% discount off the retail price, which I verified at NewEgg.
Any company which offers a substantial discount to software pirates deserves my business.

Remember the turbo kart I made out of junk parts that caught fire?
Well I revamped the engine
Strapped it to a chair
ran gloriously for about 10 minutes, then I WOT'ed it for about 10 seconds...
...I literally blew thewelds threads off my manifold
Back to square one, and more beer after a quick snack
