Having seen both Coco's show a few times and Fallon's show in NYC, I think coco was more audience orientated, he came out before taping and interacted with the audience a bunch. Fallon didn't, maybe to get a louder cheer when he first comes out and is being recorded?? The roots play thru the 'commercial break', whereas coco's band just played for ~30 seconds then resumed taping...so you were in and out in way less than an hour once filming started. Fallon's 'commercial breaks' were long because the band would play a whole song pretty much and then he would get into long (funny as hell) tirades with the producer or a camera man or the guest before resuming taping.
Both were/are great shows IMHO. I don't have cable so I dunno how conan's show is doing currently.
