Having spent a couple of months in northern Germany working at a shipyard, the German language certainly can be a bit... nonintuitive for those of us raised on Anglo/Romance dialects. It doesn't sound nearly as bad in person as it looks in print, though.
And contrary to popular belief, they do in fact have a sense of humor.
