The MSM turbo pics were of a car with a Precision Turbo that was at a local meet. The owner had paid a shop in Ft. Lauderdale area to do the work and it was all custom. It supposedly made 5xxhp on race gas/e85/orsomething and makes 4xxhp on pump gas but has a stock transmission so . A really nice guy owns it but doesn't know anything about it other than he paid a shop $Texas to build it.
Crapper plastics than a MK1/2 MX5 / Miata?

Must be bad, though there does look to be an awful lot of plastic...

As an aside, I'm in the wrong job, how's this worth £1200 ($2000)? It's a bit of scaffolding and some builders planks.

It's more that I could quite easily make that for ~£100

That's one helluva profit margin.

I can't believe I just spent 40 minutes watching someone make a pen blank. That was impressive.

You are killing me. I really really wanted a blue one. It is the only "new" car that I would own. Thanks!

because etsy

There are a lot of people making a living collecting thrift store clothes and other assorted garbage and selling it on etsy

There is cool stuff too, but still, mostly hipster paycheck rape.

Since I now have the next 6 weeks off work due to the surgery I will be trying my hand at pen making. My wife currently makes them as an expensive hobby. She gets her fun at never using the same type of wood/acrylic twice. You would not believe how much some of those blanks cost ($80+ for a piece of wood that fits in your hand).

I scored some nearly perfect ebony from eBay last year. Couldn't believe my luck. Guy didn't know what he had, so I got 5 pieces of a++ for less than $30, shipped.

I've been making pens for about 4-5 years now. Every one I've made I have given away, except for the very first one, which I use. I'd estimate I've given about 60 people pens or pencils.

From a mead maker who knows nothing about making beer: That seems like an awful lot of headspace.

If it's a vigorous primary fermentation, you'll lose an awful lot of wort out the top without that much headspace, and easily pop the airlock off. It's pretty common to primary 5 gallons of ale in a 6 / 6.5 gallon carboy, and sometimes even that's not enough.

How do you like those plastic Better Bottles? I've heard good things (lightweight, unbreakable, cheap) and bad things (hard to clean, easily scratched by carboy brush and thus impossible to sanitize.)

I really like my Better Bottle since I haven't used it as a primary. I am using a 6.5 gallon bucket for the primary, 6 gallon Better Bottle for the secondary, and transfer it back to a 6.5 gallon bucket for priming and bottling. It makes cleaning much much easier.

As a beer guy who knows nothing about mead, my first 5g attempt ended up being oxidized to hell. I found out about a year later that beer headspace and mead headspace are 2 completely different animals.

I've got 10g of all-grain blonde ale sitting in the closet waiting for me to keg/bottle and planning another 10g batch of some sort of big porter to be ready for winter consumption. I tend to give away more beer than I drink.
