One day I will own a sequential transmission so I can drive around with what sounds like a diff on it's way out.

I had a WRX with straight cut gears next to me in traffic once, it sounded broken at first until I realized what it must be....them it sounded cool. Loud as hell too. How hard would it be to get a sequential box in a Miata?

The hardest part would be scraping the 20k together for the box. Sadev/Hewland/random other manufacturer will build you anything if you have the cash.

The closest thing I've heard of that wasn't a completely custom unit was a few Japanese tuners that modified the HKS sequential dog box for an FD to fit the Miata. The HKS box alone is about ~$12k.

CEO had one, Quaife. IIRC it was 10 or 12K euros.

True sequential for a miata? I've never seen one before to be honest. I did have a look around and Hewland for instance would make you a straight cut, dog engagement 6-speed + reverse sequential box in whatever ratios you wanted. You tell them what output shaft you want, then just have a bellhousing/adapterplate made and you're golden. If only I had 15k to spare
