Q#5. Any available photo? Q#6. How much are you asking for it?
Q#7. Do you accept a ( Cashier Check / postal Money Order with

Note that you dont need to worry about shipping as i have a private

But what I don't get is he's not trying to sell me anything. He would have to pay me, and I have no problem with that. I mean, it all looks fishy but I don't get it, I guess he could send me a bad check or something?

It's a scam because they aren't going to give you a real check/payment. They won't pay via paypal or anything secure it will always screw you in some fashion. They expect you to ship the product before the payment ever clears (or doesn't clear more like) so they get something for free.
SCAM

The other way this scam plays out is they'll send you a payment for substantially more than the cost of the item asking that you refund them the most of the amount they overpaid. They'll even generously offer to let you keep some extra dough to make up for the inconvenience.

You ship the item and give them their extra $ back... And then in a few weeks you're going to find out that they didn't own the account they paid you from when the account's rightful owner disputes the transaction.

It ends up that you lose the item you sold as well as however much you refunded of their overpayment.

Nasty scam.

definitely written in scamanese.

i bet this is the scam where they write you a check and then cancel funds after you've deposited it. money comes out of your account. another tip is that they want to use their own shipping. ie not USPS so it's not a federal crime.

Yup, the scam hasn't really begun yet. The way these guys work is to create a comfy experience for you (don't worry they will take care of the shipping). The fun begins on the 2nd or 3rd contact. I bet Deliverator is right about the overpayment scam.

Accept "payment" and forward it and your correspondence to the FBI's Internet Crime Division.

If you have to ask, it usually is.

Having to go through an escrow is the first sign of a scam.

But not to be outdone, I get another email:

Hello,
Am interested in your Motegi MR7's am offering $250 if my offer is
acceptable get back to me,for the shipping i have a shipper that take care
of my shipping, for payment do you accept a cashier check?
RICHARD......
Ok, this one's better but I throw a red flag on the cashiers check and the shipper. Guess this is another scam? He does appear to have read the ad anyway. I guess I could tell him I need hiss address to ship it to and I only accept Paypal and see what he says. Should I?

Ok, a guy just bought my flywheel. This "seems" weird, maybe it's not. He paid via Paypal, for the amount I requested, but it's an "e check". It looks legit, but it says the funds take 3-5 business days to clear, and to NOT ship anything until the funds clear. I will get an email from Paypal when the funds do clear. I suppose I'll do just that. Still, I clicked the link to view details and the buyer did not include a shipping address with his e check, so I'm NOT elligable for Seller Protection Policy. He did of course give me an address in another email though, it's in Florida. All seems a little weird to me. Thoughts?

I just want to chime in and say a little thing that made me laugh:

In the story they talk about an Escrow service and all and it made me laugh because in french the Homonym is Escroc (pronunce Escro, like Escrow in english) and an Escroc is a scammer.

Oh well.... I'm in my own little world I guess
