Trying to replace the outer tie rod end on a 2002 jeep liberty (KJ). I cant get the damn thing to budge.

According to the pics, I would be turning the jam nut CW or CCW to loosen it?

I feel dumb for having to ask this, but its been soaking in PB for a while now and I just cant get it to move.

that appears to be a normal right hand thread. in the upper picture, the top of the nut will be going toward you. in the bottom picture, the top of the nut (visible) moves to the right.

On the '97 Dakota I use to have, the tire rod broke off of what it was connected to on one end. Nice.

Ouch that sucks


Ran out to home depot and grabbed a torch... backed right off with a bit of heat and few taps from the hammer.

After you heat it up, drop some candle wax on it. It will get in and help loosen it up.

Get a bigger wrench and a cheater pipe.

I break alot of when working on cars.

I used my 2.5" mid pipe to break loose my tie rod ends. SO WHAT!

Use the end of your jack handle. I have been using those for years and they work great.

Oh man, totally slipped my mind, I have used that in the past as well... oh well I needed a new torch anyway.
