Default Sold a motor on ebay

So I'm currently listing a bunch of 74' MGB parts on ebay and sold the motor for $256.01.

The guy is from Albany and said he wants to pick it up. We set up a date and he cancelled due to the weather. He calls me back and asked if he could pick it up Sunday, I told him sure no problem, but that I wouldn't be around on the weekend.

Sunday came and I called him, he's on the way. I call the bodyshop guy to let him know he's coming and he's like "wtf, there's a ice storm on the way". I have no idea why the guy picked Sunday's ice storm to travel in, but he did.

1:30 I get a call. (can barely make out what he's saying) "I bloke my truck!" what? "I bloke my truck!!!" what!? "I ROLLED MY TRUCK!!"

******* guy rolled his truck on 84! Jesus ****! There's not much I can really do for him at this point. I'm at my gf's place and the highway is basically shut down. Long story short he gets a tow, goes to the hospital, ends up staying at a friends house in CT somewhere. Then shows up at the shop yesterday morning in a rented Pontiac Aztec.

We got the motor to just fit and all was well. He showed me pictures of the truck, it was completely totalled. He said something about strapping down the pallet and I told him no worries, the motor isn't going anywhere its chained to the pallet. He says "I'm not worried about it moving around while I drive, I'm worried about if I roll again". He was a good guy and everything, but $256 motor 1999 Ford ranger.

Thought I would share the story.

Never buying an engine from you and picking it up... Haha! J/K At least the guy had a good sense of humor about the whole ordeal.

The guy showed them to me with the LCD on his camera. I wish I had them to share. Truck is done. The cab doesn't have a unfucked piece on it, all the side windows were smashed in, and the bed was even crumbled in a bit on the sides. Only thing that survived, beside him and his wife, was the windshield. lol

Yeah he had a good sense of humor about it. His wife on the other hand spoke all of about 2 sentences while they were at the shop. Those sentences being "Gary, you're talking too much".

84 was that shitty?? It wasnt bad here in tolland.

Reminds me of when my parents totaled their jeep driving home from bringing my dog to surgery.

reschedualing non-emergency surgery on your pet > totaling your 15k jeep.

EDIT.

I got a call from my friend saturday of the first snow storm we had in CT (2 weeks ago). He said he hit a tree in his subaru leg gt. Im thinking he put a dent in it and I had to go yank him out with my wagon...

showed up on scene to 2 cops and a firetruck.
playing in the snow is not worth totaling my car... hence why i was sitting at my apartment.
$8k in damage. both airbags went off.

That was Portland OR if I'm not mistaken, we consider ourselves bad *** mountain drivers, but were really not. It was a crazy ice storm a decade or so ago and the camera angle does the angle of the hill no justice, it's wicked steep
