McDonalds is cheap because their size affords them tremendous leverage when negotiating supplier agreements, because they employ mostly unskilled minimum-wage labor, because they move a high volume of product and therefore have a low per-unit burden, because (like most other fast-food chains) they accept a relatively low margin on some items in order to draw business while then recouping that margin on upsizes, soft drinks, and "luxury" items, etc etc.
Wait a sec- I thought District 9 was only just in theaters. I know that some theaters are now projecting video rather than film, but are there theaters projecting movies in SD (which I consider to be 480i / 525i)?

McDs and other fast-food companies are cheap because they use cheap ingredients like white bread, HFCS, cellulose, vegetable oil, etc. McDs even developed a method to make white meat chicken from dark meat by placing the dark meat in a centrifuge and "spinning" enough fat out for the meat to qualify as white meat.

What makes McDonalds so easy for people to make bad decisions is becuase it's cheap, the end. Don't read anything else into it. And anyways, the government has been promoting Burger King lately....
I eat out a lot because shopping for groceries is overly expensive. If I wanna make a batch of cookies and I'm out of butter I gotta spend like $4 bucks, chips another $3, maybe sugar another $2, when all is said and done the cookies are like $1 each...I also don't eat at McDonalds, but hell I go to KFC at least once a week. A 1 breast meal with two sides and a biscuit is like $5. Last night I ate a big bowl of chili from the grocery store and I always get a burger on 1/2 burger night, split it and eat it for two nights in a row. Whenever I allude to me being cheap here, I'm not kidding.
And whenever I need a cheap lunch the McD values menu is always the first thing I think of. Two McDoubles and a fry and a huge *** sweet tea for $4??? are you kidding me, that's awesome. But I always tend to make a cheap lunch each day, like a banana and a chicken/tuna salad sandwich.
You just gotta be smart with the decisions you make. I have a food, gas, and fun budget each week.

We enjoy low food costs, because we don't pay the actual cost, or at least not at the check out line. You actually pay more to eat healthy. For those of us that eat healthier by filling our shopping carts on the outside perimeter of the store instead of the inner aisles, we pay taxes to subsidize some crops that we use a lesser percentage of.
While some healthy foods are cheap...fruits and vegetables can get expense ($20 of our $80/week, or 25%). Meanwhile the corn syrup in a $1 coke, the feed used to bring you the patty in that $1 burger and the grain for that bun are all heavily subsidized.
I think it only chaps my hide because the same crops, or subsidy monies can be used to bring healthier options to market, and thus feed more people more efficiently. This goes back to the higher calorie intake for the same amount of nutrients arguement.

i mean imax for the most part. Sites that have received review copies on blue ray and seen in theaters have said it's a big difference, even watching the trailer in HD on youtube is a lot clearer then what i saw at the movie theater. but you need to wait and see it blue ray when it's out, must rent once in hd when you can.

A bag of chicken quarters is either $.59/lb or $.79/lb at the meat market around the corner from my house. Certain cheap beef cuts are $.79/lb. Much of McD's beef is meat taken as bone scrapings after the majority of the meat has been removed by processors for other (loftier) purposes. Essentially, you are the gnawing the scraps off the bones. But hey, it's beef, right?

not really. ill stick with the double cheeseburger. its funny ive only starting eating their burgers in the last year. since i can remember ive always ate the mcnuggets. i stopped like them so much when they messed around with them being "white meat"

With my wife in the grocery industry I hear about and notice things a little more in the store than most maybe. When I see immigrants in the stores, latino, asian, russian, black (immigrant, not US born black), etc. The cart is innevitably full of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, etc. Lots of nutritional density and value. Ever look at the typical white persons cart? Boxes and boxes of processed, instant or frozen meals. The worst are the ones using the wicks program (what replaced food stamps). Your typical WICKS program user has a cart filled with box after box of empty carbs and grease. Sickening.
Americans love excess and instant gratification. That applies to food as much as anything.
