Default WTF are people's problem?

Does anyone else have the problem of the complex drivers when they're rolling in the miata?

I wanted to go get something to drink from QuikTrip and I hadn't driven the miata in a few days so I wanted to take it out before it gets too bad to drive. It seems everytime I'm driving that car crazy or not everyone in a stupid piece of crap honda or a mustang has to show me just how cool their car really is.

Went down my street to the stop sign, turned onto 71st West and drove 2 blocks to Lamar where the light turned green before I arrived, turned left at a good speed probably around 30mph onto Southbound Lamar Ave. Looked in my mirror to check traffic behind me and there was a newer crappy *** mustang GT sitting at the light waiting to come up behind me. I get down to 74th street when I look in my mirror again to see that toolbag was nearly up on my *** at this point. Speed limit on the street is 30 and I typically do 30 - 35 depending on the time of day and traffic. At 75th street theres a light I stopped at to go straight to 77th street where I was going to turn, well the tools in the mustang got into the left turn lane and when the light turned red of course he revved up his 32 valve pile of trash and dumped the clutch. He very quickly lost control of the car turning around the corner.

Today was almost Scotts day. Thats me, I'm Scott. He nearly crashed the car into the curb on 75th street, which would have sent him into the HOUSE on the corner (which is < 10 feet from the curb). His house. He lived there. I would have just given up my paycheck for the week to have seen him put that piece of **** through his own god damn house.

This is kind of a pointless story to most, but I'm just curious who else has this driver complex problem when they're driving. That kinda **** happens ONLY in my miata. Not the Protege, or Speed6.

I haven't had too much trouble in the miata, normally I don't even give junks a chance at me. I usually just pretend like I cant see garbage.

I might have brought it up once before years back on here, but I did have one ego maniac try me out. Years ago I was out on a cruise with the GF at the time. I was going down Federal RD which is a long, long busy road full of places to shop, eat, etc. A Jeep pulled out of a Wendys right after I passed and killed itself to catch up. I was paying no mind until I hear "hey", to look over and see a dudes *** hanging out at me. lol. The guy gets back in and says "slow down", the light turns green and they ******* gun it. I naturally tore *** and went by them like they were still. Next red light, I feel something wet, and my GF says "is that rain?". I turn around to see the son of a bitch leaned out the window tossing water on my car out of a water bottle. Mother ******! I pulled the e-brake and got right the **** out of the car. They threw it in reverse and backed up about 20 feet. I stood in the middle of the road, about 11pm, screaming for the guy to get the **** out of the car. They sat there with lost looks on their faces and didn't say a word. I am not shitting you, I was on my way to the trunk to get my 22oz Estwing work hammer and start smashing the Jeep. Light turned green and they hit it. I ran at the Jeep and threw a punch at the side and hit the back rear side window. Cut the **** out of my hand and cracked the window. They kept going as I jumped into the miata and took off. I chased them down the street, lucky for me they turned into the only way in/out of a parking lot. I blocked the driveway and was in full rage about to really **** someone up. Like an angel was sent, some lady and her daughter pulled up and said they saw the whole thing happen. They thought the Jeep was trying to hit me and that was why I chased them. She told me to go home, that they weren't worth it. As this lady is talking to me, the Jeep creeps toward the curb, goes through the grass, and takes off. At this point the GF is having a fit screaming at me and this woman is killing me with kindness. I swallowed my pride and thanked the lady and drove away. I never saw them again.

Wow...that was long. Sorry....that was my experience with an *******, probably my worst. I still wonder if anyone of the 4 people that were in the car have seen me out in the miata since and think back to that night. It felt like a movie, not one time until the lady stopped me did I have any thought of "consequences". I feel like I have put soo much time and money into my car, that if anyone ***** with it like that I'm gonna break their neck. Sometimes, I go ******* apeshit.

IN for more storys

I never get people revving at me. Really, what idiot wants to show up a Miata?!?

The main problem I have is every dipstick driving slow in the fast lanes speeds up when I pass on the right after they won't move over. I've always had that problem but it seems worse with the Miata. It's like "oh, hey, I must be going too slow if a Miata wants by." Then they gun it to cut you off from passing. Douchebags.

I've had a couple of "rage" drivers go by me and eat it over the years. One bunch of guys in a Toyota heading up skiing. In the mountains on packed snow. Up my *** (not in my Miata) whips by me and immediately spins into a snowbank - HARD! Strange I didn't stop to help. heh heh, karma's a bitch...

Since going turbo I have only had one guy try to race me on the street, however any time one of my friends takes the car to go grab parts or something, I hear all of these stories about how a kid in a civic did this or a guy in a mustang did that. But I have never witnessed it so they were probably just driving like jackasses.

I never have any one try to challenge me. I tried getting a turbo civic and an m3 to bite the other day but no dice.

Like I said. Who revs at a Miata?!? Our cars aren't exactly known to be fast.

Well after my little bit of an ironic rant, I feel better. Yeah people are just stupid. My neighbor (47 year old with the soul of a 25 year old) Mike drives a newer GT and he got a good kick out of my story. Told me I'm not totally loony and people do the same kind of **** to him ALL the time in his GT but has learned to ignore it. The guys cool as **** and has been driving basically nothing but mustangs for 25 years now. Hes a semi-retired Dirt track racer that still races when he can.

Road rage is something I try my absolute best to avoid 100%. When I was younger teens I had a real stress / aggravation problem with a really short fuse, but I wasnt overly violent. I Think at that point most people just backed out of a confrontation with me because they thought I was psycho and bipolar or something, but I've cooled myself down quite a bit over the years. Something I absolutely WILL NOT STAND FOR is ******* with another persons ride. I don't give a **** what someone drives, nothing gives anyone the right to place a single finger on someone elses car without permission to do so.

Parked my car at a QuikTrip to meet with some friends one friday night, right outside the front doors. Went over to the side where the rest of my group was meeting up so we could head to Salders (Indoor GoKarts) for some racing. After standing there jaw-jacking for five or ten minutes I glance over after seeing movement around my car and find some greasy handed Cuban looking kid with a full flat open plam on my hood bent down looking in the bumper opening. I went from to like the Space Shuttle. After walking over and asking if I could ******* help him he apologized and told me I had a very nice car then walked off to his rusted out muffler-less pile of **** last-leg standing integra. To him that might've been an honest mistake but that kind of **** just doesnt slide in my book. Honestly I don't want ANYONE to tell me I have a nice car, to me, in my book, I do. I want other people to think its just an average car. "Nice car" from some wanna-be thug == Follow me home and try to TAKE my car...

so far it has not been too bad so I cant complain...a guy in a 350z w/ intake keeps trying to race me all the time around here, but I enjoy it, here's why:

kid is 17, thinks he owns a goddamn veyron or something, every single time he see's me (we drive the same road every morning) on the road, he gets next to me and stares me down. I cant resist the entertainment, drop it down a gear and punch it for a couple seconds like I am ***** to the wall racing him. FALLS FOR IT EVERY TIME. What does he do? He drops it to the lowest gear he can, floors it and SCREEEEAMS past me at 100+ redlining (and sometimes hitting the limiter) in every gear like his life depended on it. When there's a red light up ahead, or a car going the speed limit (45) he would keep on the throttle till about 200 feet before it, and then STOMP on the brakes...Every time I watch with curiosity whether he'll crash or not...If that nissan makes it 10k miles on original brakes/clutch I will be surprised

Its never happened in my "slow" miata, but I used to drive a fully built B16 CRX. I lived in Rock Hill SC at the time so there was never a shortage of rednecks in shitty trucks that wanted to race. One night this dick bag in a dodge 1500 was staring me down at a red light laughing at me from the passenger side. He started yelling at me and egging the driver to "Show this POS rice box some real power." This used to **** me off so I let him have it, if you could call it that. I left the light at a very lax pace and never even hit VTEC. I flew past him by about ten cars just to prove how gay he was for trying to race in the first place. We pulled up to each other at the next red light and I hung out of my window and yelled in my best redneck voice, "Dat ting gots a hemi!!"

I don't like street racing because its dumb, gay, and why go to jail and kill people when you can go to the track and **** on people, but...

I love when ricers get all stupid around me, so I can show them a little over-steer, lol. FWD FTL.

Here's my best story. Back in the 80's my brother and I went to the store in my other brother's 69 Chevelle SS. When we came out there was a drunk Indian (native american, pretty normal around here) sitting on the hood!!!!! My brother asked him rather nicely to get off. The drunk spewed out some gibberish that neither one of us could understand and didn't move an inch. My brother put our half rack down on the curb and leveled the sucker with one punch right to the middle of his nose. The drunk rolled off of the car like a sack of potatoes and fell on the ground. I can still see that dumb **** lying in the parking lot, **** up, as we drive away from the store.

I had a late 80's to '91 Honda Civic hatch run up on my **** as I was driving on I-4 to Disney on Saturday. I just floored it in 5th and quickly left him, no down shifting needed. What was classic is I could tell when he down shifted and the nose of his car rose up. Too bad for him as I was pulling harder than a freight train. I let off around 110mph and he was way back there.

He had to do a fly by once I moved over and was slowed back to 74, where my cruise was originally set.

i was sitting at a light and this kid pulls up next to me. he goes to school with me and has a bright red s2000. he pulls up and says this to me

"should have bought a real convertable..."

im sitting thinking to my self like wtf?? is he serious? he then proceeds to rev waiting for the green light. i was now pissed , i was just going to roll off the light slowly and not give a ****, but my inner man took over

as soon as the light turned green i dumped clutch at like 5k. he out launched me by maybe a fender? and as soon as we hit second, i walked him.
there were buss lengths between us.

so much for his convertable
