Here's why:

Because your decisions directly confronted the reason for the "bad economy". It's not that "aggregate demand" is too low, it's that the supply and demand aren't in the same market sectors. Too many folks doing the wrong jobs and producing the wrong products, and not enough folks doing the right jobs and producing the right products.

And that's why the recovery takes time.

Out of curiosity, what kind of nursing allows you to train and be job-ready within 3 months? I thought even basic EMT training was 100+ hours.

Maybe it's like an intern thing? He just said training to *start* in a new job.

Let's see, today is the 21st so I'll be getting my 1099 in about... 10 days. Same with wifey's W-2. Our employers take their sweet *** time. We'll get "some" refund since we never adjusted withholdings after we had our little tax credit (daughter). Regardless of what the exact amount is, I'll be writing a check to max out my Roth IRA for 2011 and 2012 so that's where any refund will go.

Hoping to break even with taxes this year. New home owner for about half the year, but deductions on the home may not exceed the standard deduction. We've got a bit of work to figure out whether we're better of filing together or separately. Really don't want to pay H&R block a few hundred dollars to do it...but just may have to.

CNA. Currently working in a major hospital's ICU, which is really interesting, that's a little over a year ago. Got this job 9 months after quitting a 4 year machinist job, and already take home as much, and have better benefits.

I realize about the economy, it was more of a joke comment.

I will probably get <$100 back but my wife will get enough to paint my car and finish up a house we're flipping, if I ever get the time to work on the house.

I have no idea what I'll be getting or giving this year. Employed at 3 different places, and very much in chaos. I'd guess I'll get back a little. I'll just be glad to break even and not owe anything.
