Just to keep myself out of trouble-when I registered as a vendor to support this forum, I didn't add any info about myself and can't figure out how to do it now. So, to avoid any confusion, yes, I am a vendor, I own Flyin' Miata and own a few Miatas. One TrackDog resting with no engine, 1990 FMII with built motor, 95 FMII with 3071 and Hydramist, 1999 with FM/SOT supercharger with hydramist, 2002 (Elvis) n/a built motor, 2004 Mazdaspeed FMII, 2006 supercharged and 2007 Westfield with turbo Miata engine. Yes, I'm a boost addict.

Reddroptop: Yeah, it's me, Bill. I don't think anybody deleted anything, just I wrote the first half of my post, posted it and ate dinner. Half an hour later there were a bunch of posts in between my two.
Not sure about the TurboDad's Dog, though.....

Welcome aboard Bill. Too bad it has to be in the middle of all the crap talk.

What's up with TrackDog at this point. I just realized I haven't seen anything about it on the site for a while.

Thanks! The TrackDog hasn't rolled under its own power for years. One of these days I'll stick a healthy engine back in, get rid of the locker rear and put in some reasonable spring rates. We've learned a lot since we last ran that car, we really FUBARED the suspension set-up. Would've been a better drag car.

You had high praise from Doug Hayashi for the TrackDog at the OTC.

Reading Doug say that, and reading your OTC logs really made you guys a much better company for me.

I haven't yet ordered anything from you guys yet, but I do have a Flyin' Miata decal on my laptop, so that has to count for something

Hey Ben- Now I fully remember your situation with the bad O2 trace on the used Link ECU, sorry I didn't know you from your screen name. It was all a little tough at the time since the whole process took so long between the start and the end of the issue. I thought we were cool in the end- I guess not. :\ I wasn't aware of any other problems with your orders in the future, or at least, that it was the same customer. When someone has more than their fair share of issues we honestly do feel bad and will go the extra mile to help when we can.

For the record- I don't have anything bad to say, professionally, about our competition- I agree that we only push each other to do better. After all I'm the one with the BA in Econ, yo.. I hope I can help out on this forum where I can, assuming I don't get flamed off! I did however feel that there were a couple *personal* attacks against me and my character, and having a dislike for being a floormat I chose to defend myself. I think it was a reasonable thing to do..

Wow. A 10 page thread.

You have a BA in Economics, and you tune cars for a living.
I have a BS in Business Administration, and I work on computers.

Do you guys get Abita beer out there in Colorado? They actually have a flavor called "Turbodog".

Are you kidding? I loved college. Wish my brother would go! Worth very penny, even if I'm not in that field. I love my job and I love Colorado, so it's all good. I don't really miss SoCal.

We don't actually have Abita beer, but we've had customers over the years bring us Turbodog beer from the South. There's a 6 pack on display in the office.

I had a great time in college as well. I would go back for my MBA, but there really isn't any need for it now.

Putting it on display is about the best thing Turbodog is good for. Were those satisfied customers that sent it to you? lol.

Jeremy, I am glad you're here, and I'm sorry this is getting dragged out to this length in the public forum. Was not my intention. But we all know how people love drama.

For the record, the events summarized by TDD don't tell the whole story. Like how I didn't actually receive the first UPS call tag, and when asked for another, I was told that UPS charges for an ARS label if it's used or not, so I'd have to pay for my return. As someone who also has a UPS account and uses the exact same Worldship software, I know that's not true. Also, I was not refunded on my original shipping costs (for the device to be sent from FM to me). There was a note on my refund check, something to the extent of, "Shipping and packing material charges are not refundable," or something. If you really care, I'm sure I could look back at the data and build a spreadsheet to show my actual financial losses from the transaction.

Basically, I was told the item worked, and purchased it in good faith. The item didn't work, and because it was not as represented, it ended up costing me a good amount of money and several days of aggravation.
I'm sure that you were also acting in good faith Jeremy, and would not have sent it to me if you knew that it was not fully functional. However, you did tell me you ran it on your test bench before you shipped it, so

Now luckily, when I read the Link's installation manual, I made the decision to run all new wires, instead of hijacking existing wires per the manual. And I'm glad that I did, as it made removal of the defective Link clean.

Now after this all happened, there were several ways I could have gone forward. I didn't **** and moan to you guys, and I didn't go posting my unhappiness in a forum where I knew you guys would see it. Why? Because I made the decision just to never do business with FM again.

Of course, I broke that promise to myself when I picked up the 1.6 DoD FMIII kit, that actually ended up being 1.8 stuff. I was pretty incredulous that someone who's at an "enthusiast" level could mistake a 1.6 and a 1.8 manifold. I had never seen a 1.8 exhaust manifold off a car with my own eyes before, and I knew what it was as soon as I got it. I mean, for heaven's sake not only does it look completely different, but it also has an EGR port. Furthermore, the downpipe didn't mate up properly. I called FM to see if you had a 1.6 manifold on the shelf that I could exchange for the 1.8 manifold. You answered the phone yourself Jeremy, but apparently Keith was in charge of it, and was on vacation, so I left a message. But you did promise to email me an installation manual for the FMIII hardware, which never came. A few days later, I did receive via email a call tag to return the FMIII stuff for refund. The call tag was followed by a voicemail from someone (not from a "public" person at FM, so I don't remember their name). I didn't want to return it for refund, as my next build will be 1.8 based. So I didn't. And I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything from FM again.

But I broke that promise to myself when you guys found the batch of Apex Dash Pods. I had always wanted one, so I jumped. Man, those things look so nice in the pictures. Unfortunately, I got this mis-shapen blob that doesn't even resemble fitting, and had a chipped edge. I didn't even call you guys after that. Just threw the thing in the closet, and chalked it up as a lesson I should have already learned. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me three times, well then I'm just a friggin idiot.

No, those aren't my feet.
They belong to the more than patient young lady who put up with me long enough to snap a few photos--and on top of that, she doesn't even put ethylene glycol or glass in my food. So life is good.

Anyway, we can chose to move forward amicably.
I'm glad that you guys have revised your return policy, and I hope that helps others in the future.
