Would have been nice if the people that posted these pictures would have at least blurred the license plates.

It'll be interesting to find out how this all turns out in the end. My guess is that everyone but the driver of the GT3 will be covered by their insurance. Too bad this is how autocross gets the spotlight. :(

The driver of the GT3 was 100% at fault. If you see pictures of the course you'd see that there was a lot of run off room. This guy aparently got on the clutch instead of the brake, and it took his brain too long to discover his mistake. He normally drives a automatic trans 'Vette, and the pedals in the GT3 are really close together and small. He jumped into a car that he wasn't familer with and attempted to drive 10/10ths.

No amount of run-off room would have been enough, he came into the stop box at speed and never touched the brake. How much room do you need to roll from 40-50 mph to a stop? He didn't crash into cars that were in grid, that was the "parking" area. I could be wrong but I heard he went 80ft before hitting anything.

I went to an autocross event seaside oregon last sunday and many of the people there were at the PIR event. They said that the guy driving has been autocrossing for 15 years.

Oh hell no! I wouldn't have parked there....I've never seen an autox where they sit cars at the end of an open timed finish box.....

Video of the stop. I was wrong in the 80ft ... it was more around 200ft according to people that were there.

Look more carefully for the end lights. WAY WAY back there. And there was a 90* turn to boot. There is NOTHING wrong with the way that "stop box" is pointing.

I posted about this last week. I'm here in Portland and it's unbelievable how this blew up on the internet.

This retard (sorry, it is likely an insult to the mentally deficient to compare this guy to them) hit the clutch instead of the brake and literally coasted 200+' into the parked cars. I can picture this guy pumping away at the clutch petal thinking "Oh S***!" the whole way. If he was doing 50mph when he tried to hit the brake, I'm guessing about 75' from the turn in. He then traveled another 150' to 200' to ram the cars. He had about 3 seconds to make a correction. Doesn't sound like much time, but when you are driving in a performance event and particularly when you see a crash coming that's a whole lot of time. He probably pushed that clutch in 7 or 8 times.

There was a local wreck in March at an autocross. A women in a Mallet corvette making something like 600 hp went over a ten foot berm, through a fence, and ended up in the middle of traffic. Car was totalled - she was fine - but it means that we have lost one of the best lots in Cincinnati.
